Quick Updates
  • The Fun Run and Community Celebration was amazing. Feedback from students about the experience was extremely positive. Preliminary totals from the Fun Run were more than $28,000 raised (gross total). We are so appreciative of your support and thankful to our PTA chairpersons, Rhonda and Katrina, as well as the myriad teachers and volunteers who worked together to make it happen. Thank you!
  • Next month we're kicking off our 5th grade student podcasters who will be sharing learning updates with us via video as part of the Thursday Folder E-News updates. I can hardly wait to see what our creative kids come up with.
  • Don't forget....Monday, October 10th is Picture Day.
Kind Regards,
Brad Gustafson, Principal

Timberwolves Get Fit
We are excited to announce a special opportunity for our students. We received a communication from the Minnesota Timberwolves to participate in their "Timberwolves Get Fit" program. Students will soon receive a sheet of paper in which they will track their physical activities. To print one, click HERE. For every 15 minutes of activity, students will earn one point. In return, they will receive a prize and a ticket for a free admission to a specific game.  For more info, please click HERE.
KICKS Program for 5th Grade Students
We are excited to introduce our wonderful KICKS program which is offered to all 5th grade students. KICKS is an acronym for Kids In Community Kare & Service. Fifth grade students will have the opportunity to participate in various service projects throughout the school year that will benefit our community and beyond. Parents of 5th grade students are welcome to join us for an informational meeting on Friday, October 14th from 8:15-8:45am in the school Cafeteria. All 5th grade students will attend the meeting with their teachers, have the opportunity to learn more about the KICKS program, hear from Dr. G, and receive a KICKS application to consider their involvement in the program.  Applications are due by Wednesday, October 19th.  All KICKS students will receive a t-shirt.  Questions? Please email KICKS chairs Andrea McMaster ([email protected]) or Paula Dahmer ([email protected]).  We are looking forward to a year of service and learning!

Books for Birthdays
If you would like to honor your child on his/her special day, the Greenwood Elementary Media Center has a wonderful way to give a gift that will impact our school community for years to come! We would love if you would consider purchasing a book to donate to our school library. To donate a book (or board game) please follow these steps:
  • Click on this link to be directed to the Amazon Wish List login
  • Type in [email protected] to search for the list
  • Once in the list, select an item to purchase
  • Please note, some items on the list have not been published yet! Instead of "Add to Cart" it will say "Pre-order Now." You may prefer to choose something that will be delivered right away.
  • Please fill out this google form to help us know how to personalize your gift.
When you are finished shopping you have two options: have the package sent directly to Greenwood or have it delivered to your personal address. If you have it sent directly to Greenwood, please include your child's name on the gift message so we know who has donated the gift!

Once the item has been delivered either via mail or in person, we will prepare the book for checkout. Once we have it ready, which will include a nameplate to recognize the special event, your child will be given the opportunity to be the first to check out the book from the library.

You might also consider donating a gift in honor of other special occasions! We appreciate your willingness to help us add amazing titles to our media center collection. The Greenwood students will enjoy these books for many years thanks to your generous donations.
PTA Update
Fun Run
The Fun Run was a HUGE success! The PTA would like to say THANK YOU to our students, staff, families and volunteers. This event could not have been done without you. The entire day was amazing, starting with the weather all the way to the infectious energy of the runners and spectators. Together we raised over $28,000. Thank you all for your generosity. If you still have an envelope at home, please send it in so that we can count it toward our goal.
