News & Information for Greenwood Elementary

FROM THE DESK OF DR. G
THANK YOU!
On behalf of our entire team, I'd like to thank the dedicated volunteers and parents who gave so generously of their time and resources this school year. Your support and partnership mean the world to us, and you make a HUGE difference in what we are able to do together for our students.

A very special thank you to the Greenwood PTA for their leadership and selfless work. You have volunteered so much time, energy, resources, and a genuine desire to help make our school the best it can be for kids...your effort is deeply appreciated. A very special thank you to our PTA executive board and president, Becky Petersen. Your leadership and service have always been exemplary and a model for us all to follow. Thank you!

Getting Connected
This Spring and Summer we're planning several get-togethers and informal meet-ups to help welcome new families to our school. Our next informal "getting connected" event for new families is Friday, June 3rd from 5:30-7:00pm. All of these informal Summer playdates are optional, but they will culminate with a school-wide Open House next Fall. Please click HERE for a preview of the upcoming events as well as our Fall Open House times.

Summer Safety
With the school year coming to an end, our children will have more free time on their hands. This can be a good time to play with friends, get exercise, read, explore, and develop independence. It is also a great time of the year to review family expectations and talk about safety around strangers. Please take time to talk to your child about how to avoid potentially unsafe situations. The National Crime Prevention Council offers support for parents facilitating these difficult conversations. We appreciate your partnership and are here to help! Click HERE for more information.

Sincerely,

Brad Gustafson, Principal
Greenwood End-of-Year Medication Pick-Up
All medications, prescription as well as over-the-counter, will be placed in the student's backpack on the last day of school unless the parent makes other arrangements to pick medications up. Any controlled substances such as Adderall, Methylphenidate, or Diazepam etc. MUST be picked up by a parent. If these medications are not picked up by the end of the last school day, they will be destroyed.

If you have any questions, call Mary Stoehr-Nessen, Health Paraprofessional, at 763-745-5515.

Thank You
Thank you to all the PTA event and program chairs and volunteers that worked hard to make this year a success. A special thank you to outgoing Executive Board members Andrea Rabe, Tracy Bullock, and Vicki Landro who have served tirelessly the past few years, giving countless hours of their time in support of the PTA.

Additionally, I personally want to thank the Greenwood community for the opportunity to serve as PTA president this year. It was such an enjoyable and gratifying experience leading an organization that is so devoted to "making more happen" for the students and teachers of our great school.

Best wishes,
Becky Petersen
