ANNOUNCEMENTS
News & Information for Greenwood Elementary

2/6/14
FROM THE DESK OF MR. G
February Calendar
To make-up for lost instructional time, the district is adding a school day on February 17th.  The digital day for the first added school day on 2/17 will be a day 5 at Greenwood.  All of the original digital days that were recorded on the district calendar will remain the same as previously planned.  Students' school year will also be extended one day through Friday, June 6, 2014.

Around the Horn
Our fabulous 4th graders are back with their weekly E-News podcast!  Each week the podcast team interviews our staff and students to bring you the latest learning news.  The kids participate in a working lunch to collaborate on the podcasts.  This week's episode features some new (experimental) sound effects from the TouchCast App as well as an unmistakable outcast from the principal.  Enjoy!

Mr. Brad Gustafson, Principal
Carnival is coming!
Mark your calendar now for Friday, March 14th, 5:30-8:30pm!

Carnival is the single largest fundraiser and community event at Greenwood Elementary! Last year's event raised nearly $18,000, all of which was re-invested in our school community.  The Carnival is powered entirely by donations and volunteers.  We need your help!

If you have stuffed animals that are ready for new homes, please drop them off in the box located in the front hallway or at 4625 Foxberry Drive, Medina.  They will be laundered and made available in our popular Adopt-a-Pet room.

The theme basket committee is looking for donations of wicker baskets in various sizes. If you've won a basket at a past carnival and are willing to return it, or if you have some others you can spare, please contact Margaret Piepkorn at [email protected].

If you have any items you are interested in donating to the Silent Auction-tickets to sporting or other events, services you can provide, etc.-please contact Pam Christensen at [email protected] or Karinn Schultz at [email protected].

Can you give an hour of your time at Carnival to make the night a success? Contact Kallie Spaulding at [email protected].

Watch this space for more information and more ways you can help Make More Happen with this year's Carnival!  Start saving your box tops!
