Student Resolutions

Happy New Year!  Please click on the photo above to link to a video featuring our very own Greenwood students and their peers from a couple different states.  My resolution is to amplify student voice and ring in the new year with high levels of learning, creativity and fun for each and every child at Greenwood!

Referendum Communication
The school has an important responsibility to inform and communicate with our families.  Please do not hesitate to contact me or review additional information on the district's website here.
  • FAQ #3: When is the election and where do I vote?
The special election will be held on February 25, 2014. To find your polling location, visit http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us. Please note that since this is a special election, some polling places are being combined and still need to be confirmed. To be sure you vote at the proper location, please check this site after January 15th.
PTA Postings
Please plan to attend the January 14th PTA meeting in which middle school associate principal, Jim Bollum, will be facilitating a conversation about the transition to middle school.  He's bringing a couple former Greenwood students to answer parents' questions about the step from elementary to middle school.  This has been a popular session in the past so you won't want to miss it!  The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the GW cafeteria (please note time change).

The PTA is still looking for two people to co-chair carnival this year!  Co-chairs will work together as a team to manage the details of carnival (including overseeing committee chairs, organizing 4-6 meetings and some staff communications).  Please contact our PTA President, Amy Albert, if you are interested or have any questions at [email protected].  This is a fun way to make new friends and really make a difference alongside other Greenwood families.

Wishing you all the best in 2014 and beyond...

With Kind Regards,
Mr. Gustafson, Principal
January PTA Meeting
The PTA will meet at 9 a.m. on January 14, 2014, in the cafeteria (please note time change). Middle school associate principal, Jim Bollum, will speak about the transition to middle school.  For questions, please contact PTA President, Amy Albert at [email protected].
"Grab and Go" Breakfast starts next week
Greenwood's new "Grab and Go" Breakfast program will begin on January 6th.

Who: This program is open for all students and adults. The cost for students is $1.35 and $2.10 for adults. Breakfast is free to any student on free/reduced lunch pricing. Parents are encouraged to have conversations with their children about whether they should or shouldn't be eating the "Grab & Go" breakfast.  Please monitor your breakfast/lunch account balances to ensure your child is following through on your expectations.

What: A Greenwood Breakfast Menu will be listed online under the Culinary Express tab. Similar to lunch, students will be asked to enter their lunch PIN codes to purchase their breakfasts.  To download a copy of January's menu, click here.

When: The hours of the Grab and Go program are 7:25 am - 7:45 am. Students will pick up food in the cafeteria and consume it in the classroom. Guidelines for consuming snacks in the classroom will be adhered to for eating breakfast in the classroom as well.

Why: We have seen an increased need for students who are not eating breakfast prior to arriving at school and research has demonstrated that when kids do not get breakfast it can directly impact their learning and behavior at school. We are aligning with the other elementary schools in the district in offering a breakfast program to our Greenwood Community.
Proud to be part of
Excellence. For each and every student.
