Citizenship Challenge
We are continuing our partnership with families to promote positive character development in a super-fun and family-friendly way this summer. The final character trait of the school year is Citizenship. On May 31, 2013, we'll take some time to highlight what this trait means at an all school Character Assembly, and share an exciting summer citizenship challenge that I hope everyone connects with. Safety and Reflections
I'm frequently asked, "Are things winding down for summer at Greenwood?" The truth is....spring and the weeks before summer are some of the most action-packed and memorable days of the year. It's a time of great fun, reflection and important work and planning continues.
One of the important things we do throughout the year as a staff is conduct regular safety drills; the state requires five fire and five lockdown drills be conducted each year. The information, feedback and reflection that occurs after each of these safety drills contributes to additional growth and increased preparedness.
In the coming week we will be conducting our two final drills of the year (one fire drill and one lockdown). One of the drills will take place during an intermediate grade's recess/lunch time. I recognize that this is a busy time of the day for students and assure you that we will make accommodations so that each and every student has adequate time to eat his/her lunch. At the same time, conducting a drill over the recess hour yields power learning and practice for students and staff. Thanks in advance for your support, and please encourage your child to continue to follow the directions of our dedicated staff members during these practice drills----the kids have done a fantastic job all year long!
Kind Regards,
Mr. Brad Gustafson
