In the past week or so, I have been approached by a few parents interested in learning more about our school's dress code policy. I appreciate this support on a few different levels; as a principal I believe students that dress for success put themselves in a position to learn best. This includes wearing footwear that is safe and conducive to participation in PE and recess classes. As a father of three, I also understand that sometimes current clothing trends and styles conflict with how I believe my own children should dress. Our district has established a dress code policy that parents may use as a tool to communicate our expectations for student attire.
As students become more aware of themselves and others, certain types of clothing may cause distractions or embarrassment and may be generally inappropriate. PE activities, other games, and even sitting in a desk or at a lunch table call for clothing that does not reveal skin or undergarments by being too short or low cut. Shirts and tank tops are no exception, and your support in guiding your child to make the right and proper choice for learning is greatly appreciated.
We are looking forward to an amazing Spring full of sunny days, lots of laughs and engaging learning!
Kind regards,
Brad Gustafson, Principal
