Character Counts
Our school is committed to fostering high levels of learning and character development in each and every student. For our final character trait of the year, Citizenship, we will be emphasizing how students can serve others. There will be an upcoming opportunity and summer citizenship challenge (stay tuned for more details). To help our students remember what citizenship means, we use the following descriptors:
Obey laws and rules. Do your share to make our community better. Cooperate. Stay informed. Be a good friend and neighbor. Respect authority.
We also connect the trait to the color purple; have students think, "The color of royalty...we can serve each other by making a royal difference!"
MCA Testing Continues
Our 3rd through 5th graders will continue taking the MCA Mathematics tests online according to individual classroom testing schedules. Your support in encouraging positive attendance and a strong effort is greatly appreciated. Our students and families work very hard throughout the school year, and the MCA tests are an important way for students to "show what they know" and demonstrate their learning. 5th graders also will be taking the MCA Science tests in May as well.
It seems that the snow and chilly weather is subsiding. I'm thankful that spring is in the air and there are many bright and sunny days ahead!
Kind regards,
Brad Gustafson, Principal
