Character Counts

Our school continues to work on building foundational skills and character traits, and we recently celebrated the trait trustworthiness at an all-school Character Assembly.  Click HERE for a video clip featuring a portion of that assembly.  Please stop by the main entrance to review past assembly honorees and to view information about our current "Students of the Month."  We've got some AMAZING students at Greenwood (731 of them to be precise) and it's been really exciting to focus on character and celebrate our learning together!  As we begin our focus on the trait respect, I wanted to pass along what respect means to us.  Feel free to integrate the language into conversations at home:

Treat others with respect.  Follow the Golden Rule.  Use good manners, not bad language.  Don't threaten, hit, or hurt anyone.  Stand up for what is right.

Carnival Recap

I've been asked by several people how the carnival went, and my emphatic answer is GREAT!  The wacky hair was in full effect....and there were plenty of two-liters to go around.  I think the Adopt-a-Pet shelter/booth paired every gently-used stuffed animal with a caring Greenwood student within the first hour or so of the carnival.  It was a hit again!!  Judging from the "smile factor" across the school, I'd say that our students had a fun and memorable evening.  I want to sincerely thank all of the parents, staff and school community (including local business partners) for their support.  I know that the carnival and positive student experience was a direct result of a lot of time and work and sincerely thank you for investment and sacrifice.  THANK YOU!

Tardies & School Start Time

I've had a couple inquiries about attendance and our school's start time this fall, and appreciate your questions and support.  Greenwood's student day begins at 7:45 a.m.  At that time all students should be in their classrooms.  If your child arrives after 7:45 a.m., he/she is considered tardy and a parent (or parent note) must accompany the child to the school health office.  If you have questions or want to work together to problem-solve any issues that arise please let me know.  Please be sure we have updated contact and emergency information in the event we need to reach you anytime during the day.

Thanks again for a great carnival and October!

Best Regards,

Mr. Brad Gustafson

A Big Carnival Thank You!!!

A big thank you to each and every member of our school community for their support in planning the Greenwood Carnival.  Many parents that worked countless hours at school and behind the scenes to make our carnival a success.  Thanks also to those who  donated freely so our games, raffles and gift baskets were possible. Words cannot express how much we value and appreciate your efforts. On behalf of the students and staff at our school, the PTA would like to offer a heartfelt, "Thank you!"
