How Our Men Fly
Those of us who live in or have visited the US are familiar with Southwest Airlines. Around the world other airlines (e.g. Ryanair in Europe) have tried to copy the format and it doesn't work. All of the research suggests that it's the company's culture that makes the difference - a very real focus on people, humor and love. It's interesting that one of the company's slogans is "The Somebody Up There Who Loves You."
Now you are likely thinking - what has this to do with male spirituality? Well, in March we had 58 men who are committed to this work gather in Arizona at our annual gathering- Soularize. It was a great opportunity to reflect, work together and celebrate how we have grown and evolved. But it was also a time when our culture was on display. So what did we notice about the men who gathered?
- We quickly get past the superficial questions like 'where do you live' and 'what do you do'.
- We approach our work with equal measures of fun and seriousness.
- Men who participate in this work have a genuine respect and love for each other - it's unique and infectious.
- We do serious work to figure out where God is showing up in our lives - in the good stuff and the not so good stuff.
- Our drumming and ritual don't make sense until you've actually experienced how incredibly moving it is.

And that's the tip of the iceberg - all attendees left the event wanting more.
So in this edition of Drumbeat we invite you to:
- Consider attending one of our events to experience our culture for yourself - please visit our events page
