International Day of Peace
Each year, September 21 is observed around the world as the International Day of Peace, a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The United Nations invites all nations and people to honor a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.

National Preparedness Month: "Be Disaster Aware, Take Action to Prepare"
September 1st through September 30. To move people to action, the President has directed all federal agencies to work with their stakeholders across the country to "coordinate a comprehensive campaign to build and sustain national preparedness, including public outreach and community-based and private-sector programs to enhance national resilience. Multiethnic Advocates for Cultural Competence (MACC) Annual Meeting and Statewide Training Conference
September 4-6, 2014 in Columbus, Ohio, at the Quest Conference Center, Columbus. Focus of this conference is on behavioral health integration, suicide prevention, behavioral health/self-care for faith leaders and cultural proficiency strategies to promote health equity. There are a limited number of registration scholarships available for students and others on a first come first served basis. The Most Reverend Robert W. Donnelly Dies
Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Toledo died on July 21. May he rest in peace!

Rev. Abraham Allende will become Bishop for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Northeastern Ohio Synod on September 13.
 Bishop Daniel Thomas, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Philadelphia, has been named by Pope Francis the new Bishop of the Diocese of Toledo. He will be installed on October 22.
