Snatam Kaur is one of the most popular New Age artists of our time, selling over 70,000 albums a year. You'll find enthusiastic press about her music everywhere from the Houston Chronicle to the Hindustan Times and she's been featured in publications such as Oprah's "O" Magazine, Yoga Journal, LA Yoga, the Light Connection and the Body Mind Spirit Guide. She recently graced the pages of Oprah's "O" magazine and performed for Oprah on her birthday in Maui. Like countless others around the planet, Oprah "plays her [music] everyday before meditating." Snatam Kaur's albums have topped New Age Retailer's Top 20 lists every year since 2004. She was the only artist to have 3 albums in the Top 20 in a single year. Her albums have consistently ranked in the top 20 in both Indie New Age and Indie World Music on Amazon.

Her music can be heard around the world in venues from yoga studios to schools to Hollywood films and in the homes of her fans worldwide. An international favorite with fans across the U.S, Europe, Asia, South America and the South Pacific, Snatam Kaur performs at over 60 venues each year, from the Bahamas to Russia. One fan spoke for all when he admitted, "We come to Snatam's concerts to experience the beautiful atmosphere her voice creates, to heal and grow."

Snatam Kaur, whose father was a manager for the Grateful Dead, has an amazing ability to transform traditional chants into a contemporary sound that appeals to the modern ear and awakens an ancient yearning in the soul. Sacred Sounds Radio calls her music "spiritually uplifting and deeply soul cleansing." Ram Dass, celebrated author of Be Here Now, says that "in Snatam's voice...there is purity, clarity, and love."

Dressed in distinctive Sikh garb, Snatam Kaur embodies the Sikh message of strength through inner serenity. While traveling the world on tour she also teaches yoga and meditation to children and adults alike, a part of her commitment to give people tools for a daily experience of inner peace.

Simrit Kaur was born at 12:30 p.m on 12/30 in Athens, Greece. When she was just over a year old, she moved to South Carolina.  Her childhood was steeped in rich Greek culture: she attended the Greek Orthodox Church twice a week where she sang in the church choir, performed in the Greek dance troupe, and attended Greek school where she learned to read, write, and speak Greek.  As a young child in the church, she developed an appreciation for the mystical aspects of the ancient Byzantine music that she studied and sang.  During these years, Simrit also studied piano and hand drums.  She grew up with a daily dose of the Greek folk and classical music of Nana Mouskouri, Glykeria, Parios and Demis Roussos in addition to Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Pink Floyd, Joan Baez, The Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, Jeff Buckley, and many others.

Simrit went to the College of Charleston where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology and Spanish.  She then attended Trident Tech., also in Charleston, where she earned a second degree in Biology and Chemistry so that she could become a doctor of Naturopathy.  During this time she also studied West African drumming and traveled and performed with an African drumming company. While she was in college she started her study and practice of Kundalini Yoga. She continues today to practice and teach the tools of Kundalini yoga which have greatly enhanced her life.

One of Simrit's favorite things to do was to go to the beach alone and sing.  She loved this time to deeply connect with her soul. One particular night on the beach, it was very cloudy.  As Simrit chanted, the clouds parted and formed a circle of clear sky directly over her, and the moon came through.  This was the turning point for her.

Ree Coleman is a Holistic Vision Improvement Teacher graduated from the Vision Educator Training Institute in Eliot, ME and a Certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor.  Her vision is to cultivate relaxation, flexibility and balance of body, mind and spirit -- principles shared by practitioners of Natural Vision Improvement and Kundalini Yoga.

Her yoga journey

began in the 1970's with the PBS show, "Maggie and the Beautiful Machine."  Maggie Littvan was real: she worked with all kinds of people, honoring their abilities in the moment.  She helped students build strength, flexibility, poise and confidence.  Her wisdom and simplicity spoke to Ree as a young, aspiring figure skater with many skating-related injuries.  She continued with a regular yoga practice and fell in love with Kundalini Yoga in the 1990's and how it brings her to a more relaxed, open, meditative state of mind and body.  As her personal yoga practice deepened, she became a Kundalini Yoga Teacher in 1998. In addition to teaching private clients, she taught classes at Fitcorp in Boston and Braintree Adult Education in the early 2000's.

Her vision improvement journey began when she was diagnosed with Ocular Inflammatory Disease in the late 1990's. After numerous eye surgeries, her vision deteriorated. Seeking an alternative path for improving her vision, she traveled to the School for Self-Healing in San Francisco and experienced exceptional vision improvement results in one week. Back in Boston, she began to work with Rosemary Gaddum Gordon, a local Holistic Vision Improvement teacher and owner of the Vision Educator Training Institute. She enjoyed vision stabilization for a number of years by combining holistic vision improvement techniques with yoga, supplements, nutrition and exercise. Nonetheless, further eye procedures were necessary.  These resulted in a dramatic vision loss in her surgical eye.  This caused her to leave the corporate world in 2011 after 30+ years.  She enrolled in VETI as her impaired vision no longer allowed her to comfortably work at a computer all day.  Having experienced improvement in her own vision in the past, she wanted not only to continue for herself but to help others improve their vision as well.

Her final project for school combined her love of Kundalini Yoga with Natural Vision Improvement techniques through designing and teaching an 8-week workshop program called "Eyes on Yoga" which was taught at Baba Siri Chand Yoga Center in Millis, MA.

Her passage through vision loss to vision improvement has tested her in many ways, reaching within to find the strength to persevere, believe in herself and move forward one step at a time. Kundalini Yoga and Natural Vision Improvement keep her relaxed allowing her vision to stay clearer allowing a heightened awareness of herself.  Being centered keeps her strong to excel at all she does.  She is excited and honored to share what she has learned with you.

How can we really enjoy this life? How can we really enjoy being in our bodies, in this rib cage? We must have the capacity to have a still and quiet mind. Because the joy is there. This innocence is there. The love is there. We become too ravaged in our own insecurity, our own misery, our own blindness, to even see the truth. Yes, thrash around if you must, gnarl and gnash your teeth like a wild animal. After enough tearing about, you will be left alone, simply alone, to rebuild the pieces of your life.
Use the sacred medicine of Mantra at this time, and you will find the happiness and the joy that you are seeking. What is despair? What is anguish? It is a simple frequency of the mind. Just as Mantra is a frequency of the mind. Mantra is a word that is thousands of years old. It means projection (tra) of the mind (man). Mantra is the way we project our mind to Divinity.

As human beings we are constantly in a state of being in touch with our darkness and our light, our insecurity and our security, our courage and our fear. We come to this earth with our karma, our past actions from previous lifetimes. Our souls have come here to learn and grow. The yogis say that it takes 8.4 million lifetimes (rock, blade of grass, ant, tortoise, etc. etc. not necessarily in that order!) to reach the human incarnation. We have passed through that animal phase. Yet many of us are still in this kind of animal phase, and even worse then animals. At least with animals there is an innocence about their actions. We have even lost our innocence! So, how do we experience the goodness, the joy, and the love? How do we reach our Divinity? Mantra. Mantra, takes you there. It is a fast track, direct line. Many people do not want to even practice it, because it works too well! They enjoy the neurosis, the anger, the pain, and the anguish! There is a certain kind of satisfaction in it, a knowing, the familiar, and the oh so delicious drama of it all. Mantra, well, sorry folks, mantra is kind of boring. It is that kind of boring, boring, boring, boring a hole into your heart so that your light can finally shine through you. It takes time, it takes patience, it takes consistency, it takes prioritization.

Here is a thousand foot view of the human experience of Mantra from the beginning to the ultimate goal. Someone experiences a Mantra, they get healed, they feel light, they feel love, and they feel joy. Perhaps they heard someone singing it, their yoga teacher, a musician, something. If they are lucky, they will realize that it was not in fact the human carrier of the mantra that brought them joy, but the living presence of the Mantra. You see, because every mantra is alive, a living breathing energy. The mantras find you! So yes, if you know the truth, you will know that the healing, the joy has come from the Mantra itself. With this realization one incorporates the Mantra into their life. The ultimate goal is that the Mantra becomes you, you live it and breath it, it guides your breath, your thoughts, and your actions. These Mantras are simple positive affirmations of the love and light of God that is within and around us, the affirmation of truth and reality that all is Divine, all is God.

Most of us exist with the Mantras on a very peripheral level. We hear the Mantra every once in a while, we cycle in and out, we go to a chant concert or experience one night, to a disco the next night, we chant together, and then we turn around and yell and scream at each other all in the same day! Such is the human life! How do we get to grace, to true experience, and joy?

My teacher taught a very simple practice that in essence gives the opportunity for all of us having a very human experience to transform, and transform completely. It is essentially a road map to salvation through Mantra for the house holder.

"For Simrit Kaur, singing is not a performance, it is a sacred worship of the Divine. Her voice, her music, and her teaching, reflect this devotion which seems to come from her so effortlessly. In many Eastern traditions, the relationship with the Divine is analogous to the relationship with a Lover. We know what it is like to love or long for love with a partner in life. Tuning in to that feeling and directing it toward the Divine opens a powerful path to ecstasy. Likewise, relating to your partner (or your longing for a partner) as God or Goddess powerfully nurtures and energizes an otherwise earthly relationship. With practices from Kundalini Yoga, we will discover how to utilize all the feelings that arise in relationship, negative and positive alike, and direct them toward the Divine.

Bring a picture of your partner or fantasy partner (movie stars will do!). And, if you have one, bring a picture of a Divine Being that elicits passion for you.

Beyond the stress and pressure of everyday life, beyond our inner fears, anxiety, sadness and depression and even beyond the happiness and joy, there is a state of Elevation, an experience of Love which we can generate together.

In this workshop, we will practice Shiv Krishna Kriya, the Ecstasy of Kundalini Love, which according to Yogi Bhajan, "brings in you a power which neither I can describe nor you can understand.
It creates in your own psyche a tremendous burst of sun." It induces in our brain an experience of Love, a vibratory effect, which we can keep in our hearts to carry us through the challenges of this life.

Shiv Krishna Kriya is a practice which once learned can easily be practiced alone. In the midst of this season, let us come together to generate this light and love. In the words of Yogi Bhajan: "I just want to share with you that hidden beauty in me which belongs to you."
