July is Smart Irrigation Month!

Governor Butch Otter has proclaimed July 2013 as Smart Irrigation Month for the state of Idaho.

This is the first year that Idaho has recognized Smart Irrigation Month, an Irrigation Association initiative that began in 2005.

Idaho is celebrating Smart Irrigation Month by supporting efforts to provide all water users with information and tools on how they can save money on water and energy costs, enhance plant health, and reduce run-off.

Focused on July, traditionally the month of peak demand for outdoor water use, Smart Irrigation Month is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the value of water-use efficiency, water saving products, practices and services.

All industry professionals and businesses are encouraged to participate in Smart Irrigation Month. This is an initiative of the Irrigation Association, a non-profit industry organization dedicated to promoting efficient irrigation. Visit Our Smart Irrigation Page to learn more.

Irrigation Auditing

Irrigation auditors collect data, verify systems are working as designed and identify opportunities to improve water-use efficiency.

Whether evaluating agriculture, landscape or golf irrigation systems, effective irrigation auditors:

  • Analyze water requirements and irrigation use in the context of each site's unique conditions.
  • Develop irrigation schedules based on water requirements, quality and availability.
  • Make maintenance recommendations to keep the irrigation system working reliably and cost effectively.
  • Estimate potential dollar and water savings from implementing innovative irrigation technologies, products and practices.

Enhance Your Expertise

Become a more effective irrigation auditor with resources from the Irrigation Association:

Be Smart. Become IA-Certified.

One of the best ways to promote smart irrigation practices is to learn how to utilize the cutting-edge technologies and best practices that define our rapidly changing industry. There is no better way to do so than to become IA-certified. IA certification programs prepare irrigation professionals for rewarding careers as water managers in a variety of irrigation disciplines - including through a new entry-level certified irrigation technician program!

Learn more about IA certification programs, which have been helping irrigation professionals get ahead for 30 years.

And don't forget to visit www.irrigationshow.org to see the full schedule of IA certification exams available at the 2013 Irrigation Show and Education Conference, Nov. 4 - 8, in Austin, Texas!

A Special "Thank You"

A huge "Thank You!!" goes out to all that participated in the Russell Rowley benefit poker tournament.  The Rowley family with tremendous gratitude and appreciation welcomed the funds raised that evening. More than thirty highly skilled (?) players started the night, but only three remained standing at the end.  Home field advantage proved too much to overcome for the visiting crowd.  Lots of laughs and expletives...all for a great cause!!
