CAF Reservists: Your newest pool of highly skilled, well-qualified talent
Career Edge, with support from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and in partnership with the Department of National Defense (DND), has recently launched a project aimed at helping Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Reservists secure paid internship opportunities that align with their career goals.

With many Reservists struggling to find civilian employment opportunities within the community of their reserve unit, the Canadian Armed Forces Reservists' Paid Internship Project is intended to help Reservists get the skills and experience needed to overcome barriers to meaningful employment, while continuing to serve their reserve unit.

This is good news for employers who are looking for ways to establish or complement their military-friendly recruitment strategies. Through Career Edge's existing paid internship model, employers can now hire Reservists for entry and mid-level positions related to finance, insurance, project management, HR and sales. The transferable skills that Reservists bring to the workplace include:
  • Organization skills
  • Problem solving and issue resolution
  • Leadership
  • Team work
  • Resourcefulness
  • Highly developed communication skills -leveraging computer and wireless technology
  • Experience working in culturally diverse environments
Contact us at CAFR@careeredge.ca to find out how to get a Canadian Reservist working for you, or visit our website to learn more about this exciting new program.

This program is funded in part by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES).

Visit our blog to learn how creating and showcasing your corporate culture can help you attract and retain the right kind of talent for your organization.
