Beverly Hills Minimum Wage Ordinance
The Beverly Hills City Council is strongly considering adopting a minimum wage ordinance modeled after one signed into law earlier this year in the City of Los Angeles. This ordinance is set to take effect in 2016 and raise the minimum wage to $15/hr. by 2020 with gradual increases every year. The Beverly Hills City Council is interested in hearing input from the city's business community about the potential impacts of this proposed wage increase.

As the principal organization representing businesses in Beverly Hills, the Chamber needs your input on how to represent the business community before City Council. This is your opportunity to influence the debate over the minimum wage in Beverly Hills. The more businesses that complete this survey, the more informed a decision the City Council can make about whether to adopt this wage increase.

Please take 2-3 minutes of your day to have your voice heard in this important debate. The results of this survey will be aggregated and presented to the City Council next month. All responses will be anonymous.

Please click here to fill out the survey. The survey will close on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 5 pm.

Beverly Hills Disaster Preparedness Guide
Prepare for the Rain! Save for the Drought!

The City of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Chamber are preparing for El Niņo and the predicted severe storm season. However, it is equally important for all residents and businesses to think about and prepare for the impacts of heavy rain and flooding. Keep in mind that no matter how much rain falls, potable water is a scarce resource and conservation mandates are still in effect! Download your winter storm preparedness guide by clicking here.

The following is a checklist of things to do BEFORE the rain comes:
  • Contact your building management to find out if they have taken mitigation measures to prepare for  the storm such as checking the roof, cleaning out gutters, ditches and drainage systems.
  • If you own the building ensure you have taken the same precautions.
  • Keep sandbags, plywood, plastic sheeting and other building materials handy for waterproofing, particularly if you have had problems in the past.
  • Know how to turn sprinklers off. Do not water lawn/planters during or after a storm.
  • Report blocked or clogged catch basins to the City at (310) 285-2467.
  • Know how to turn off utilities. Avoid down powerlines.
  • Sign up to receive emergency alerts from the City by going to www.beverlyhills.org/emergencynotifcation and by texting Bevhills and BevHillsPD to 888777.
  • Go to Ready Ratings at http://www.readyrating.org/ to access your business readiness.
  • Review your business continuity plan. Go to https://www.fema.gov/media-library/resources-documents/collections/357.
  • Regularly listen to weather forecasts and public service announcements during the storm season. Have a discussion with staff on what to do.
  • Assemble disaster supplies to be stored at home, in your car, and at work.
  • Increase the level of your home preparedness.
For information on preparing for all emergencies and disasters call the Office of Emergency Management at 310-285-1025
