Are we really half-way through November? Are you stocking up on cranberry sauce and pulling out that favorite pie recipe?
Maybe you're finalizing those family plans for the holidays, or maybe you're already on your way south, working your way to those winter SOWER projects! Wherever this may find you, I pray that it finds you in a season of thankfulness. For regardless of our circumstances, our God is with us. This year may have been filled with only "good things", but chances are pretty good that each of us has struggled with some family or health or financial (or whatever you choose) issues. Wherever the LORD has led you this year - up to the mountain top or through a rocky patch of life, I pray you have felt His presence going with you. It really is true that although we don't know what the future holds, we do indeed know who holds the future. So during this time of year, may your hearts be filled with thanksgiving and praise, for as I Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us: "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give THANKS in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
Thankful for His Mercy,
Stephanie Conrad, #2509

What a Discovery!
WEC - USA
As we drove up the wooded hill, an imposing stone "castle" appeared, hidden from the noisy expressways and railroads nearby. We were welcomed warmly and included in many of the activities. Since it was September, we helped prepare for the incoming class of missionary candidates, who would train there for 13 weeks. Wonderful times of worship, testimonies, fellowship were shared! We were noticeably drawn into the glow of spiritual retreat, which spurred us on to want to serve them even more. First-time SOWERs Dave and Beth Rosander were an energetic, delightful couple to work with.

WEC International (Worldwide Evangelization For Christ) (PA-173) is a training center for missionaries from around the world. Located close to Philadelphia, it is open for SOWERS April through December and has 5 spots available!

Dear Sam and Sally
Dear Sam and Sally,
There is a question that has come up at several of our last projects; why do we have to have worked somewhere PRIOR to them becoming a project to have that project as a home project? Some of us would be willing to have projects close to us as our home project if we didn't have to have worked there before they became a project. Maybe the board could reconsider this policy?
Thanks,
Just Wondering
Dear Wondering,
Thanks for this great question. The "Home Project" (HP) is a bit confusing. A person can claim a HP if they either worked at the ministry before they joined SOWERS or before the ministry itself became a SOWER project. This program was developed to allow couples who perhaps were instrumental in a ministry becoming a SOWER project or maybe learned about SOWERs while helping at that project a little more flexibility when it came to continuing their relationship with the ministry. It was never meant to limit folks from being able to serve. If there is a project near you, please feel free to adopt it! Work it when you can and encourage others to work there also. If you can't work an entire 3 week project, check with the SOWER office and they can check with the project if they can use you for one or two weeks of the project. Most times (especially in the summer months) that type of flexibility works fine. Thanks for bringing this concern to the Trustees. They are always looking for ways the SOWER Ministry can provide more and better service to our host ministries, and that includes reviewing current policies. God bless you as you continue to serve!
Serving with you,
Sam & Sally

Contributors ALWAYS Needed!
Do YOU have a testimony to share about a recent SOWER project? Maybe a word of encouragement to other SOWERS? We'd love to hear about it!
Do you have a photograph that might work as a "header" for this monthly newsletter? (It will be cropped to 600x125 pixels) Or maybe a favorite group shot that could be included?

Advertising Opportunities
Although we firmly believe that word of mouth (that's you!) is our best advertising venue, the Board is looking at many different advertising options. One of them is placing the following ad in a variety of Christian magazines.
But we STILL need your help! Does your denomination have a publication or website that might be willing to run this ad? Contact Ken Oliver or Cliff Stone with any suggestions you may have!

Help Needed
Are you a member of Escapees? Do you love SOWERS and would love to share the ministry with others? Because SOWERs is a BOF (birds of a feather) within Escapees, we can have an info table at their Escapades in what they call the ROW with other organizations who are simply putting out information. Dale and Cheryl Curtis (#3253) have signed up to have a SOWER table on the ROW at the Escapees Nat'l rally called Escapade in Tucson, AZ March 8-13, 2015.
But they need YOUR help! Dale and Cheryl have done the legwork, but now need to get the word out to other SOWERs who will be coming to the Escapade to fill in a time slot. The ROW is not open all day, everyday so if you can help there will still be plenty of time to enjoy the Escapade. Contact the Curtis' for more information!

Don't forget to check out the Project Locator (Google Earth) on the Members Only page. It's a great help in scoping out project locations, especially if you're trying to "bundle" projects to cut down on travel time (and fuel costs!). Maybe there's one near you that you could work this summer!
