Greetings!
Ah, Sweet April. Spring has officially arrived and the roadsides are brimming with new life as the trees begin to bud and the dogwood breaks out its finest for the season. Everywhere we look there is new life bursting out - a constant and true reminder of the New Life we have in Christ. As believers, we celebrate our Lord's Resurrection and His perfect gift of salvation each and every day. But this month we share in a time of special reflection - Resurrection Sunday. As we consider anew the wonder of the Resurrection, may you again be overwhelmed by His amazing sacrifice. I pray that we never forget that we are the joy that was set before Him as He endured the cross. He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!!!
Oh, How He loves you and me!

Loaves and fishes?
We were working at Way Of The Cross (TX-405), in Harlingen, TX, and Ben, the project host, wanted a major change and improvements in the RV area as well as electrical service to a building. After some discussion, we settled on the 4 RV sites and electric to the storage building. Harold Sohl (#2318) and I measured the needs for the electric wire. We measured carefully and knew that we would need 508ft for the four outlets plus another 110ft for one additional long "run". When it came time to order, we ordered a 500ft roll and then another 125ft roll for that other long run. Since we knew it would be close, we dropped the boxes down one foot and were very careful to have the minimum to cut off at each box. We pulled the wire tight around the corners, and guess what? We had some wire left over on the coil. We also had the expected 10ft left from that 125ft roll.
Then Ben wanted 4 air conditioners wired in, so we measured the wire left on the coil. Wow, we had about 30 feet on the roll! It looked like we could wire in the A/Cs with the left over wire. We were able to use the 15 foot length without any waste. The 30 foot length was installed with minimum waste and you know what? We had 2 feet left over. We wasted 2 feet. Now, my question is, where did the extra 30 feet come from? On top of that we needed 22 feet of conduit. The store only had a 20 foot roll and asked if that would do. We guessed it had to, so we purchased it. We had 2 feet of that left over. Loaves and Fishes? I don't know, but it was just another very visible reminder that God is in control!

An Anchor in a Stormy Sea
Sower Cathy Richmond, assisted by her husband Jon, (#2793) gave a black light chalk drawing presentation to a full house of boys, house parents, and staff during Sunday evening Chapel Service March 23rd at Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch (FL-479). As she developed the drawing of the anchor on the cross in a stormy sea, background music was played reinforcing the theme: Does your anchor hold in the storms of life, Jesus is our rock, and turn your eyes upon Jesus.
When the drawing was finished, Cathy directed the black light onto the anchor on the cross picture, and the audience rose to a standing ovation. This was a strong visual that the boys could identify with, when in the future, they hear the music or find themselves in a difficult situation. The Chaplain agreed with the boys' suggestion that the drawing be framed and given a permanent location on the wall in the Chapel. Cathy's message also reminded the boys that whatever talent or learned skill they acquire can be given in service to God.

Pictures Update
The Skill Sheet picture project is continuing. Thank you to those who have sent in pictures! Here are a couple of suggestions and guidelines to help with the process -
- Pictures should be sent to the office - sowers@sowerministry.org
- Individual pictures are most appreciated, but since only "head shots" are needed, pictures that can be cropped are also fine.
- Next time you're on a project find the "shutterbug" in the group and set up a "photo booth" . All the photos can be taken at one time and sent in together to the office. Feel free to resize them to reduce the file size.
- These photos will only be used on the skill sheets that are sent to the project hosts and group leaders. While submitting these photos is optional, we encourage you to send them in.

Dear Sam and Sally
Are there any guidelines on when we should sign up for a project? Is it ever too early or too late to sign up?
Thanks!
Eager to serve
Dear Eager,
That's a great question! With the exception of the "Lottery" projects* during Jan-Feb-Mar, if you see a month listed in the Sowergram it is open for sign-ups. So in some instances you can sign up many months in advance. As to how late you can sign up, well, you can sign up right up to the start date of the project. However, that puts the project host at quite a disadvantage. Six weeks before the start of a project month the host is contacted with information about who is coming. Or they are sent a "regrets" email saying no one is coming. Often our projects have very limited funds and even though they were planning on a certain project for SOWERS to work on, when they see that no one is coming they will allocate those project funds in another direction. When SOWERS sign up just a couple of weeks (or even days) before a project starts then sometimes the host has to scramble for work for them. And as so often happens, once one person signs up others will also. Then the host suddenly has several workers but no funds available for the project he really wanted to do. (And then we often wonder why the host seems disorganized or has nothing for us to do). So while you CAN sign up right up to the start of a project month, the optimum time to sign up is at least six (6) weeks before the project month. Thanks for asking! Now go sign up for a Summer project - you still have plenty of time!
Thankful for your service,
Sam and Sally

Remembering
Before Gary and I arrived at our summer SOA project , Heart of Texas Baptist Camp (TX-429)in Brownwood TX, a team of Chain Saw Carvers had come into camp to cut down dead trees and shape up others. Some of the stumps had enough left on top to carve crosses. I took a picture of one of them with my smart phone and use the image as my front screen image. Now each time I use my phone, it's a beautiful reminder Christ, the Heart of Texas Camp and of our SOWER ministry. Maybe you might use a monthly project photo as your screen's image. No matter what we use or store away, in many ways we have wonderful memories.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
