Spanish Immersion Course, June 29th-30th
Free demo class Monday, June 10th 7:30pm Hilltop Middle School

Spanish teacher, Elissa McLean,
will be teaching a weekend immersion course at Hilltop June 29th-30th. The course is taught
using a highly-effective approach based on current brain and language acquisition research. The class engages participants in gaining fluency quickly, in a relaxed, fun environment. It is not your typical Spanish class: No worksheets, no grammar drills, no flashcards. Complete beginners as well as for those who want a refresher can benefit from the course.
Whether or not you've been successful in previous language classes, you'll walk away from this weekend surprised at how much Spanish you gained.

Enrollment is open to motivated Hilltop middle school students. To read more about our weekend courses, visit
www.escuelitaspanishschool.org. Please contact Elissa with any questions (escuelita.vt@gmail.com).
(Our very own Jay Cook took the weekend course last year-- you can ask him about it!)

Notes from the Head

What a great Grandparents and Special Friends Day!

THANK YOU to the many CH and LE parents (and other parents) who helped out in so many ways - from prepping food to setting up and cleaning up! Special thanks to Rebecca Fontaine, Jennifer Betit-Engel, Rita Ramirez and Becky Lewis for organizing the day and being on hand throughout the festivities.

Terrific Tag Sale!

Thanks to all of you who helped make the tag sale a great success! We had 20 families selling goods. Bikes, battery operated tractors, freezers, trampolines, strollers, toys, games, guacamole servers (ask Kim Korson about that one) were bought and sold. Special shout outs go to Emilie Kornheiser, food maven and her band of manly men chefs at the grill, Bo Foard, Rich Korson and Chad Farnum. Special thanks also goes to those families who donated part of their booty to Hilltop! Way to share the wealth! And finally, thanks to the Hilltop Girls on the Run Team who sold baked goods and raised a whopping $150 for the Morningside Shelter and the Windham County Humane Society.

Great weather, fantastic community and super deals. It was a great combo!

Keep it up!

We're over $10,000 in ticket sales - thanks so much for all your efforts to sell tickets to friends, family, co-workers and strangers! We've gotten 43% of the way to our goal of $23,000. Remember the drawings are June 8.

Here are new photos of the Tiny House - it looks amazing! Thanks so much Chad Farnum for ALL you've done on this project.

Speaking of cows - STROLLING OF THE HEIFERS

Who Doesn't LOVE a parade?

Calling all Hilltop students and parents who have always wanted to march in a parade. Now's your chance. Join us for this year's Heifer Stroll. We'll meet on Saturday, June 8th at 9:15am at the Elm Street parking lot near NEYT. You'll have to park a little ways out and walk to the meeting spot.

Our goal, with the help of Madeline Fan and Helen Schmidt, is to create a cardboard tiny house and flowers that the paraders can carry as our "float". The real tiny house will be on the common where it will raffled off after the festivities!

We'll be meeting after school on Tuesday, June 4th to work on our "float". Stop by and lend a creative hand if you're in the mood.

Please note: Children marching in the parade must have an adult supervisor. The scene at the end of the parade is pretty chaotic and we wouldn't want any aimlessly wandering paraders.

Stay tuned for more information about how you can participate in this year's Stroll!
