SCOUTStrong 5K Fun Run
Baraboo Circus Heritage Days
The Circus Heritage Days committee wants to add a 5k fun run/fundraiser to the activities for the weekend.
I have been asked to chair this additional event. I'm looking for committee members to help with this.
- If you've run 5k's and want to help create the perfect event....
- If you've never been a runner and want to help create the perfect event...
- Even if you only want to help come up with a fun name and logo...
....PLEASE SIGN UP!
I'm very excited to help with this. I think that a fun run sets a great example of ScoutStrong AND has excellent fund-raising potential for Glacier's Edge Council.
Yours in Scouting,
Beth Fjeld

Commish Corner
CONGRATULATIONS GLACIER'S EDGE COUNCIL FOR BEING A SILVER COUNCIL IN 2012 JOURNEY TO EXCELLENCE
Kids join Scouting for Fun and Adventure so let's remember to include these two ingredients in everything that we do.
As we plan pack, troop and crew outdoor program events, it is important that the activities provide a sense of excitement and adventure, that they are well planned, and that they are things that the youth want to do. Den, Pack, Crew and Troop meetings also make up a significant part of the program that we provide. If these are not seen a good use of time, the kids and parents stop showing up.
Brainstorming questions:
Can we add a game or activity to each of our meetings to add fun and adventure or practice Scout skills?
Are we taking advantage of outings to add fun and adventure?
Do our den, pack or troop meetings too closely resemble a class room?
Do we attend monthly Roundtables to share ideas for meeting fun with other leaders?
Are the boys providing the leadership at troop meetings?
Are the meetings and activities planned in advance?
Do these meetings provide value for the first year Scouts? older Scouts?
Are meetings strictly advancement, or do they provide activities aimed at growing leadership skills?
Does the program in our units measure up to the expectations of the Scouts and parents?
Questions? There are plenty of people that can help including your Unit Commissioner, District Executive, and the Leaders that attend monthly roundtables.
Thanks for all you do for our Scouts!

Cub Scout Day Camps 2013!
Howdy partner! The Glacier's Edge Council Sherriff has put out the wanted posters for those Glacier's Edge Cub Scout Packs that are going to be attending one of his camps this summer. The Sherriff needs to know your plans so he can take you of his wanted list. Help us plan for the Summer 2013 Cub Scout Camps by telling us which camp(s) your Pack is planning to attend. Please complete the Cub Camp Interest Form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013CubCampPlan. By completing the form your Pack will be on the list for the camp. While the Cub Interest Form does not guarantee your spot at camp, being on the list will allow us to contact you should the camp(s) you chose approach the capacity number for the camp. To lock in your spot at a given camp you must submit a youth roster and payment.

Please feel free to give my name and phone number as a contact, Amy Hugill (608)924-3807.
