All Scouter Pow Wow
The All Scouter Pow Wow is a council sponsored event designed to be a day of learning and fun. It is a single day packed with a year's worth of fun, games, songs, skits, and new information for adults who want to provide the best Scouting program possible for their boys. This event includes topics of interest for Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Exploring and Venturing leaders. In addition to the many resources Pow Wow provides, participants have a chance to meet Scouters from all over our Council and complete supplemental training courses such as Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat and much more.

All Scouter Pow Wow - January 19, 2013

OPENING & CLOSING CEREMONIES will all take place in the Gymnasium. Classes will be held in the high school. MIDWAY: The Midway has representatives of businesses & non-profit organizations. The Midway also has information about Scouting events & opportunities to enhance your programs during the year. Scouters are encouraged to visit the Midway. The area will be open from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. THE TRADING POST: Will be offering Scout materials and some other special items so be sure to check them out. FOOD: Breakfast items (doughnuts, bagels, juice, coffee and tea) are available for purchase in the cafeteria. Lunch will be served in the main cafeteria area. It will be a hot lunch with a vegetarian option. THE STAFF: Staff members are coming to the All Scouter Pow Wow from throughout the Midwest. We're dedicated in finding knowledgeable instructors for all the classes. We thank all the staff members for their valuable time and effort. THE CLASSES: Each year, the All Scouter Pow Wow changes the courses offered. This keeps the All Scouter Pow Wow fresh and up to date with the latest changes in scouting. If you have an idea for a class for next year's All Scouter Pow Wow, please let us know. Also, please fill out the evaluation forms for classes at this year's All Scouter Pow Wow.

2013 Summer Camp Kickoff

The chili is being prepared, final drafts of the 2013 Leader guides are in the works. All will be ready for the second annual Glacier's Edge Council Chili Feed and Summer Camp Kickoff. Mark your calendar now for one of the two sessions. Choose to attend either December 5 at Middleton High School or December 6 at Camp Indian Trails. Come get the latest information on the plans for our Council Camp, as well as tips and tricks to get your Pack, Troop or Crew ready for a great 2013 Camp season for the Glaciers' Edge Council.

the online Google Map to Scouting
BeAScout, the online Google Maps application to help parents find Scout units for their children in any zip code WORKS! 35 families discovered units through BeAScout in Wisconsin River District. This is a very powerful tool; but, it needs unit leaders to populate their "pin" with unit contact information. The Five Star University of Scouting is a one-day training event that includes over 50 courses to help you support the Aims of Scouting and to Deliver the Promise to our youth. NOTE: There are NINE new courses for 2013!!! This annual event is organized and staffed by the sponsoring Councils. The multi- council format provides a wide range of experiences. Interested in Going to Sea Base??
TROOP 165 IS GOING IN 2013 AND HAS OPENINGS! July 9-15th 2013, a group from Troop 165 will attend Out Island Adventure at Sea Base. They still have a few openings-contact Bryan Anders if interested at dawg@bugnet.net or 608-574-0164. Cost of trip is $765 plus about $400 for transportation. The program includes 5.5 mile kayak trip over open sea, 4 nights tenting on Big Munson Island, Snorkeling, Shark Fishing, Island Exploring and an Environmental Project.

Got Boys Stumped on an Eagle Project Idea?
The Exchange Club of Madison-Middleton, has offered to assist scouts pursuing Eagle Scout status to take on a "Freedom Shrine" project to fulfill part of their requirements.
"The Freedom Shrine" is a collection of original historic American documents photographically reproduced. The documents are attractively displayed in schools, libraries, malls, recreational centers, and other public places throughout the United States. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 Do you have boys in your den that need help cutting and creating a Pinewood Derby Car? Troop 243 of Elkhorn is holding a Pinewood Derby Workshop and all Cub Scouts are welcome! The Workshop will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Armory (next to the Walworth County Fairgrounds) in Elkhorn. Cubs should bring a car kit.
