Alabama Sales Tax Holiday

Back-to-school sales tax weekend is this weekend. From August 2-4 Alabamians can save between 4 and 10 percent on items in four categories: clothing (up to $100 per item), electronics (up to $750 per item), school supplies (up to $50 per item) and books (up to $30 per item).

For a complete listing of tax exempt items visit the Alabama Department of Revenue's "2013 Sales Tax Holiday Reference Guide." While Jefferson County will not be participating, cities in Jefferson County will be which means you will still pay 2% sales tax on tax exempt items. For a list of participating counties click here.
