Electronic "Will"

From social media to online banking, it is crucial to include online accounts in your estate planning process. Here are a few things to consider regarding your electronic "will":

*Take an inventory of all of your online accounts. List your login and password information as well as answers to security questions. Consider saving this list as a password protected document on your computer so you can update it regularly. Print a copy of your list with the password to the master document on your computer and place it in your safe deposit box. Be sure your Personal Representative or Successor Trustee has the password to your password protected document.

*It is not advisable to put password information in your will as it will become public information when entered into probate.

*Talk to your estate planning attorney regarding adding specific language to your Durable Power of Attorney document for dealing with digital assets.
