A NOTE FROM SARAH AND JULIA

A note from Sarah & Julia about children's Christian formation:

Greetings from Sarah and Julia!

An invitation not only to the kids, but to parents as well!  This Sunday, February 14, during Formation Hour, we will all gather together to do a project to share a little love and sunshine with our neighbors at Summer's Landing.  Sharing the joy and the love!

We will all meet in the Level Three Atrium at 9:00 a.m. to decorate flower pots, fill little bags of dirt, and wrap seeds.  A joyful gathering and activity!

We will then bundle up and walk over to Summer's Landing where we will present our gifts to the residents and sing a few of the songs we have been working on with Chad.  We will be back in plenty of time for 10:30 a.m. worship.

Parents- you are an important and joyful part of the day!  So please make every effort to join us.

With love and joy,
Mother Julia and Mother Sarah

OUTREACH

The Garden of 'Eatin' creates so much more than veggies and it is FREE:
The article is taken from Livescience.com February 2014:

Parents are clearly willing to pay to get their kids outside more, and with good reason. Forty percent of U.S. school districts cut recess or physical education programs after the U.S. Congress passed the No Child Left Behind Act in 2001, partly in response to pressure to improve test scores. But the benefits of getting outside to play are manifold, particularly in natural settings. Studies show that exposure to nature can help reduce ADHD symptoms; in schools with an environmental education component, students score higher on standardized tests in math, reading, writing and listening than their non-nature-exposed counterparts. Other positive effects include improved critical thinking, problem solving and cooperation. And there are health benefits, too: Kids who play outside more often are less likely to develop nearsightedness, obesity, diabetes and vitamin D deficiencies.
Email or call James for more information on getting you and your family involved!
