Anam Cara

Anam Cara is Gallic for "Soul Friend." It comes out of the Celtic tradition of encouraging us to find a spiritual companion who journeys with us on our path of life.

Along the way, Mother Julia will support you in your own discernment of the presence and invitations of the Spirit towards healing, towards transformation, towards freedom, towards authenticity and towards service in the goodness and love of God - all grounded in the nurturing of a growing intimacy between you and God.

To get more information, email The Rev. Julia Rusling, Director of the Anam Cara program, or call her at 770-455-6523.  Click here to read the brochure.

A Few Words From Liz Beal Kidd,
 Our New/Old Youth Director

It is so wonderful to be back at St.Patrick's. It's funny when people say, "So you are St.Patrick's new Youth Director?" I have to answer, "I'm actually the New/Old Youth Director- The Return of Liz maybe?" I was able to spend 2001-2006 as your fearless Youth Leader! It is exciting that my children will get to experience the love and community of the St.Patrick's church family. Joel was a member here with me the first time and a J2A teacher. He works for Bank of America and has picked up the guitar in the last four years. Bobby is our eldest at 9. He loves snakes, basketball, scouts, hiking, and space. Elias is 7 and loves whales, camping, climbing, Star Wars, and scouts. Charlotte is 4 and loves dinosaurs, campfires, gymnastics, chocolate, and keeping her brothers on their toes. They love the floating Jesus and the music in their new church home!

I am most excited about getting to run the J2A program!  I wanted my children to go to a church that has J2A because I saw the wonderful things it had to offer! This program lets our youth explore their depth and to take on leadership. The lesson plans cover a variety of topics and spiritual practices. The J2A community builds our young Christians to know their way around the worship services and the Bible. It's a program of fellowship, games, movie nights and service projects. We will be known as the Youth Group to call on whenever there is a community project in need in our diocese. It is a program that takes teens seriously and gives them real work to do.

What do we need from our church support community?  Fun and insightful teachers! I would like four teachers in each room. Teachers can be male or female, ages 21 to 91, any color or size. We are looking for all types of spiritual gifts! It is a two year time commitment as it stands right now. We also need enthusiasm around our ceremonies! The Rite 13 passage and Confirmation should be HUGE times of celebration! We also would love your support for our pilgrimages and mission trips. We promise to be outstanding members that contribute greatly to the rich fabric of the St. Patrick's community in return for all the love and respect you show us everyday.

It's our job as a parish to do our part in the formation of faithful young adults so that they in turn may go forth and make the world a better place. I am just thrilled to be given the opportunity to get a small piece of that action!

  • Adult Christian Formation

Join us for any of these classes:

PAINTING LOOKING UP

Art Lab, led by Nancy Dusenberry and Diane Rankin

Do you have fantastic dreams that you'd like to keep as teachers? Memories that you'd like to freeze in time and revisit? We begin with a meditation time to "call up" and focus our chosen images, talk a bit, and sketch. Subsequent weeks are spent producing and resolving. No prior experience needed.

DREAMS: LISTENING TO GOD

Library, led by Brenda Marquis and Kendra Yates

The Dream Group provides a safe and sacred space to share dreams and help participants find spiritual fulfillment in them. Participants are also helped to discern what God might be telling them in "God's forgotten language." Every week varies according to who attends and the dream selected for discussion.

Stephen Ministry News: Stephen Ministries
Please join us in rejoicing that three members of our parish have said "yes" to Fr. Dick's invitation to become Stephen Ministers at St. Patrick's. Diane Rankin and Bruce Wilson will be attending training at Roswell Presbyterian church beginning August 18. Virginia Ross will also be returning to active status as a Stephen Minister.

Please pray for all of them as they prepare to use their gifts to serve the members of this congregation who are in need of caring Christian companionship.

If you or someone you know has a need for a caring listener that is beyond what a friend can provide, call Fr. Dick at (770) 455-6523 or Anne Duncan at (770) 454-9053 for referral to a Stephen Minister. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of the Stephen Ministry. The Stephen Ministers are people you can depend on and trust to assist you through the difficult times.
