You will find St. Patrick's is home to families & singles of all ages. We seek God through outward expressions and inward contemplation, finding spirituality on a personal level. We also enjoy our fellowship time together! Join us on any Sunday!

Anam Cara

Anam Cara is Gallic for "Soul Friend." It comes out of the Celtic tradition of encouraging us to find a spiritual companion who journeys with us on our path of life. Along the way the Anam Cara supports you in your own discernment of the presence and invitations of the Spirit towards healing, towards transformation, towards freedom, towards authenticity and towards service in the goodness and love of God - all grounded in a growing intimacy between you and God. To get more information, email The Rev. Julia Rusling or call her at 770-455-6523.  Click here to read the brochure.

Where's Mother Julia this summer?

Mother Julia is so present among us that it is easy to forget that she is part-time. And that is why I am delighted to let you know that Julia will be taking months of June and July and part of August to renew, refresh and be with family.

While she is away, Julia will begin a six month course in therapeutic yoga; participate in a week-long silent retreat; and set aside gracious windows of time for depth of study, prayer, reflection, discernment, hiking, gardening, and lake swimming.

We will see her around from time to time this summer, at Adventure Camp, when she pops in for her companioning work of Anam Cara, and when she is among us in the pews. Join us this Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. when we will commission Julia for a holy summer.

PENTECOST!

More photos on our flickr site, and more on the way.

Dunk Your Clergy! Mo. Sarah raised the most money and was dunked in the dunk tank last Sunday. But Fr. Dick and Mo. Julia got in on the fun as well. Thanks to everyone who supported this effort to fund raise for our playground.

Pentecost Cakewalk Success!: Thank you to all of St. Patrick's wonderful bakers for the delicious cakes (and one boozy blackberry cobbler) donated for our Pentecost Picnic Cakewalk on Sunday!  Over $500 was raised by the cakewalk for our new playground!  Special thanks to Lynne Fisher-Queen, our Cakewalk hostess and music-master, Butch Adkins, for his terrific job of recruiting walkers, Elaine Judge, for a spectacular Pentecost Picnic, and finally, to all of you who walked, and walked, and walked again, to win a cake and help us build a new playground for our little ones!

PARISH HAPPENINGS

Rob Grove Preaching May 31:

Rob started the long-running Lenten discipline of individual parishioners painting the stations of the cross and exhibiting this work in the Nave, starting Palm Sunday and remaining until after Pentecost. Rob painted each of the stations, some more than once. This year, Rob's dedication and commitment to this ministry has been honored by hanging all of Rob's stations created over the years. Today he will explain his paintings and what this work, spanning over 16 years, has meant to him personally. A reception for Rob will follow in the Parish Hall.

Centering Prayer: During the summer Centering Prayer will be meeting on Mondays at 1 p.m. in the library. The Tuesday group will merge with this group for the sumemr.

One Christian's Pentecostal Prayer Language:
As a special offering for Pentecost, The Art Department of St. Patrick's would like to introduce one of our own, Marea Haslett, who is exhibiting work in the Narthex for the next few weeks. Marea and James Haslett; along with their sons, Gavin and Jacob, are parishioners at St. Patrick's. During the weekdays, Marea is Visual Arts Teacher and Department Chair at Milton High School in Marietta. Marea's exhibit includes a body of work which is part of her Master's Thesis at Savannah College of Arts and Design. According to Marea, her work represents a lifetime of creating an ever-changing visual representation of her relationship with God, her family, and those that enter her life. On her website, Marea explains, "the paintings offer the process and action of working through the transformation of memory from the past to present perspectives."  Marea will be on hand in the Narthex after the service to give further insight on her work. Go to  her website for a sneak preview.

The Gathering June 7 at 5:00 p.m.: A contemplative and progressive gathering with prayer and poetry... music, guided meditation, and silence... Inspired by wisdom traditions, modern Celtic spirituality, and natural spirituality. Music by Ramsay and friends. This is an *OPEN* invitation to all ages, for anyone who may enjoy an off-center, earthy and experiential approach to gathered spirituality.

PARISH RETREAT

It's time to mark your calendars for our Retreat Weekend this year, August 28 - 30. We will be trying a new venue, just an hour away outside Dahlonega, with good wholesome southern fayre prepared for us on site. Watch this space for program and reservation details over the coming weeks.

Name tags: Remember, wear your name tag when you come to St. Patrick's! They're hanging alphabetically on the name tag nametag board. Each Sunday the board can be found in the narthex. Otherwise it lives in the back hallway. If you need a nametag, please email Amanda Vaughn.

OUTREACH

Shine A Light - pack a healthy lunch for kids at risk on June 18 and July 16 at 7:00 p.m in Parish Hall

Action Ministries facilitates the distribution and we have volunteers in place to deliver to our designated distribution center. We are joining a community of churches and organizations throughout Atlanta and surrounding areas to pack and deliver thousands of lunches to vulnerable girls this summer.

Let's gather in the parish hall at 7:00 p.m. on June 18 and July 16. While we decorate the bags, hear from the Shine A Light Team on plans to keep moving toward the eventual destruction of domestic minor sex trafficking. They will speak about plans now and in the future.

This is a great cause and you can explore where or if you want to plug in. There are a variety of ways to make a difference now and into next year when the Advocates for Kids program is in place. SAL (Shine A Light) is community working together to do what we can to take action against this "blight on the human race" to quote President Carter. DMST (domestic minor sex trafficking) will end if we keep the effort alive and moving.

We will pack in an assembly line and be done in an hour with your help. If you helped last year, please come again. If this will be your first time, welcome!
