Carl McColman 2

Here in the 21st century, some of our leading Christian thinkers - people like Phyllis Tickle, Brian McLaren, Richard Rohr, and Diana Butler Bass - contend that we are on the verge of another reformation that may prove to be as world-transforming as the one 500 years ago. What does this mean for ordinary Christians? How can we be faithful to Christ and His Gospel in a world where change - both inside and outside the Church - is so radical, so non-stop, so all-pervasive? This series hopes to explore these questions by prayerfully reflecting on "The Once and Future Christian."

Session I: The Future is Now: Exploring the Emergence Theology of Phyllis Tickle, Richard Rohr, Brian McLaren, and Diana Butler Bass

Session II: "The Christian of The Future" - contemplation, charism, and prayerfully riding the wave

Session III: Thomas Merton and the Dalai Lama: Christianity in dialogue with other faiths (being true to our faith without being a fundamentalist)

Session IV: Waiting for a New Saint Benedict: How the Wisdom of the Past can illuminate our path into the future.

MINISTRY NEWS

Gifts for Life Will Transform a Life This Christmas: As we rush from store to store, website to website looking for those gifts to please those we cherish, please consider a small gift to change one life this Christmas. The Episcopal Relief and Development arm of our faith tradition has made it simple, easy and affordable to transform lives all over this Earth we share. Micro loans for women to pull themselves out of poverty allowing them to care for their children, seeds for villages to plant crops with life sustaining vegetables, maternity care for those located in areas of high mortality rates, goats to provide milk to a household and clean drinking water are but a few ways that your precious gift will change lives. Would you consider joining us this Christmas in "paying it forward"? Please email James Tola at [email protected]   with questions and brochures will be at church showing you how simple you can bring HOPE, JOY and PEACE!
