The Shamrock - July 2, 2014

Summer Doldrums? Not at St. Patrick's!

Dear friends,

Let me first say what an amazing time of discernment and reflection CREDO was! Having a few days away in Northern California with Anne before the conference was a wonderful additional blessing. Thank you so much for your covering of prayer while we were away.

On to Parish news!

As you can see from the pictures below, last week's "Explorer's Camp" was simply terrific! We were so very blessed with inspired and dedicated leaders, adult and teen, and with a very large group of campers (37). How awesome to have the campers among us all week, learning and laughing, and then singing on Sunday.

We are now preparing for "VBS: Christmas in July" the week of July 21-25, culminating in a Christmas Celebration during and after the 10:30 a.m. service on July 27. This will also be Deacon Ed's last Sunday with us and our opportunity to thank him and send him into the world with our blessing.  Deacon Ed, we are already missing you!

Meanwhile, preparations for the fall continue apace.

As you know, the vestry has cast a vision to expand all of the ministries of the parish by calling a second priest. We are looking especially for someone with talent and passion for innovative ministry development focusing on young adults and young families. Under the guidance of Chair Cowen Harter, The Associate Rector Search Committee has prepared and posted our Position Description, we are soliciting applications now and will begin interviewing in August.

Having gathered a vast amount of input from the Parish, the Vestry has also formed a Committee that will discern vision and direction for our Youth Program. Their first task is to locate a new Youth Director. Many thanks to Ramsay Hall for facilitating and shepherding this group and for Patti Barrett who has agreed to chair it!

Whew! See what I mean about no summer doldrums here at St. Pat's!

As we approach the Fourth of July and the joy and celebration that day brings, let us also give thanks and offer prayers as we join in God's great work among us.

Blessings and travel mercies!

Life, Love, Loss - a Women's Group: We have recognized a need within our parish for a new forum for women to share, listen and learn from each other as they face challenges in their life. Currently we are considering an every week - evening meeting. The intent is to provide a safe, confidential and loving environment for women to trust and share. If you believe you may be interested in participating in such a group, please join us for a one hour exploratory meeting on Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parlor. The intent is to begin this group by the end of July.
