The Shamrock - June 18, 2014

Dear friends,

Just a quick note to let you know that I will be in California this week and weekend at CREDO, a wellness and enrichment conference provided to clergy by the Episcopal Church. Paraphrased from their website, CREDO Conferences are opportunities for clergy to examine significant areas of their lives and to discern prayerfully their vocation as they respond to God's call in a lifelong process of practice and transformation.

All of my priest colleagues who have attended CREDO have returned renewed and with fresh insights. Having been unable to accept earlier invitations over the years, I am thrilled, at last, for the opportunity to participate this year. I am also thankful that Anne and I will have a few days together in California before the conference starts.

Holding you in my prayers especially week, I am

Faithfully,

D+

First movie on June 22:The Book Thief hosted by Keith Harper: "Young  Liesel steals books to teach herself to read, giving her refuge from the horrors of Nazi Germany and her cold foster parents. When not reading, she forms a bond with the Jewish man her adoptive family is hiding in their home.

Simple Presence, Common Ground: Also beginning June 22 and lasting through August 3 (excluding July 6), we will have a new offering during the education hour: Simple Presence, Common Ground. This class will meet in the quiet room off the Narthex. Guided by Tilden Edwards' Living Simply Through the Day, each class will begin with an introduction of a contemplative prayer practice, followed by actual practice time and ending with sharing. This class is for anyone interested in contemplative prayer and practices, and is a safe place for the curious, the beginner and those who already have an established prayer practice. Think of this class as a time for quiet prayer before the service.
