The Shamrock - March 5, 2014

Collect for Ash Wednesday

Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Lenten Schedule:

Celtic Evening Prayer on Sundays in Lent, 5:00 p.m.

We invite you to experience God's goodness in the profound simplicity of Evening Prayer inspired by the Celtic tradition. We will gather each Sunday in Lent in the Chapel at 5:00 p.m. for liturgy led by clergy and parishioners. Come to the quiet. Come to adore. Come to be transformed this Lent.

This Week

The Gathering: The Gathering will meet this Friday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. It is a contemplative and progressive gathering with prayer and poetry... music, guided meditation, and silence... Inspired by wisdom traditions, modern Celtic spirituality, and natural spirituality. Music by Ramsay and friends. This is an *OPEN* invitation to all ages. (Child care is not provided.) Call Leigh Cooper at 678-467-5400 for more information.

Diocese of Atlanta Ministry Summit: FAITH in Transition: Formerly the Ministry Fair, FAITH in Transition will be your chance to meet with people from around the Diocese of Atlanta and join in considering how we will be doing Episcopal ministry over the next several years in a changing world and a changing church. It will be held at the Cathedral this Saturday, March 8. For more information and registration, click here.

Daylight Saving Time Begins This Sunday: Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour this Saturday night, March 8.

Join the Old Testament class for a 3-Sunday study of The Book of Ruth:

Bring your coffee to Room 8 at 9:15 a.m. The bestseller novella and parable book is named after its heroine, a young Moabite widow who leaves her land and family to follow her mother-in-law to Bethlehem in Judah, where she will become the great-grandmother of King David. The book shows that God's message can come unexpectedly and directly from others no matter the culture and laws which seek to limit their power and worth, and that HESED, kindness and loyalty, are more important than gender or ethnicity or nationality. March 9, Overview and Chapter; March 16, Chapter 2 & 3; March 23, Chapter 4 and Summary.

Hunger Walk for Malachi's March 9:

Parish family,

It's Hunger Walk time! Malachi's Storehouse's largest fundraiser is well underway. Our goal this year?  $15,000. Due to parish and dioscesan budget cuts, your Hunger Walk donation is even more important to us.

In 2013, MSH fed 31,600 people! Early returns are that we will continue to be an important resource to so many. I love that as a parish we continue to be available to the folks that Jesus wanted us to be available to. Also, all the research around happiness indicates there is a strong correlation between being kind and being happy! It's almost like Jesus knew what we would need ;)

Here's one way to be kind. Follow the links and let me know if you have trouble.  Click here to donate or register for the Hunger Walk.

As always, we are so very grateful for your continuous and generous and KIND support.

Love,  Kathy (kmalcomhall@yahoo.com
