Liturgy Changes in Advent: As Deacon Ed mentioned in his Advent article in the Shamrock, we have some changes to Sundays during Advent. The first is that the time before the services is in silence. From 7:45 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. and again from 10:15 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. we ask for silence in the office and narthex as well as in the chapel and the nave (there are "shhhhhh" signs to remind us of that in the narthex).
Also, there are no announcements -- every attempt will be made to include all necessary information about church happenings in the service bulletin. That means the services will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Advent at St. Patrick's: Join St. Patrick's in Advent in calm and silence, yet filled with excitement about the coming of Christ. Advent Evening Dinner and Program, Wednesday Simple dinner of soup (vegan and meat) and bread at 6:00 p.m., program begins at 7:00 p.m. RSVP for dinner to Amanda Vaughn or 770-455-6523 the Monday before. Dec. 11-Christmas Concert with Paul Tate: Join us for traditional holiday favorites, Paul's original music, a carol sing-along, and more. Dec. 18-Moravian Lovefeast:The service begins with a welcome and then Christmas hymns and carols that provide the subject matter for our devotional thoughts. During the service a warm slightly sweetened bun will be served along with mugs of coffee and lemonade. Click here to see the full schedule of adult Christian Formation offerings for the fall.
Office Closure: The church office will be closed from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19 through Wednesday, Jan. 1. Christmas Open House: Dress up or dress down, just come to the Christmas open house (adults only) at the lovely home of Donna Kunz on Friday, Dec. 20 from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. RSVP to Donna by Dec. 19 to let her know you are coming - if you forget, please come any way! Parking is limited, so please car pool from the church. Donna's address is 4303 Village Oaks Lane. You are welcome to bring an hors d'oeuvre. The Celtic Waiting where the Gathering presented a contemplative service, influenced by modern Celtic spirituality, met Wednesday night, Dec. 4 for a beautiful evening.
Stewardship Update: "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Cor. 9:7: So far we have received 95 adult pledge cards for a total of $395,928! This is a wonderful start, and we are so thankful for you generosity.
It is never too late to pledge! Pledge cards for the 2014 Operating Budget are available in the office and you can find a printable pledge card here. Pledge cards should be returned to Nicole Cone, Parish administrator.
Quiet prayer with Mary: During Advent, there will be a painting, prie dieu, and paper in the narthex. Spend a moment in prayerful meditation, give a written response, and put it in the box beside the painting. Do you have a question or message for Mary? | St. Patrick's adults and youth at Diocesan confirmation service. | | CGS Children use the Advent spiral from Quiet Day.

Christmas Flowers: Christmas Poinsettias, which are placed at the altar for the Christmas services, are available for ordering now through the Altar Guild bulletin board in the hallway by the office. The cost is $20 each. The poinsettias are a lovely way to honor friends and family during the season of Christmas. The deadline for ordering is Sunday, Dec. 16. Please note the information you want printed in the bulletin (in honor of / in memory of) and note "Christmas flowers" on your check. Deacon and Priest Ordination: On Saturday, Dec. 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Philip, 5 people will be ordained to the sacred order of priests and 6 people will be ordained to the sacred order of Deacons, including Peter Wallace. Are all welcome to attend. Click here to see the invitation. Luncheon with Beth Sarah Wright: St. Patrick's is hosting a lunch on Friday, Jan. 10 at noon. Beth Sarah Wright, Bishop Rob Wright's wife, will be our speaker for the event. Tickets are $15. To purchase a ticket, please call the church office at 770-455-6523 or email Amanda Vaughn.

Foyers Group to "For the Kid in All of Us": Best Christmas foyers ever celebrated Sunday night at the "For the Kid in All of Us" Christmas party. Held at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart, guests arrived in fabulous cocktail outfits bearing wonderful toys for 40 different charities, Malachi's Storehouse being one of them. The place was packed and jamming! Terrific Silent Auction also. Our Foyers Group, spearheaded by our fearless and awesome leader, Mike Cropper, along with Rick and Robin Neal, Jim Hoffman, Bill and Diane Rankin, Marcia Hutchins, Elaine Judge, Mona Walasek, and I volunteered for 5 hours at the event. We were registration helpers, toy accepters, and coat check "girls". I never sat, but never got tired. The toys are amazing. We were all blessed to be a part of the event. We will remind you next year, but please plan to join us for a fun filled evening. The number of toys we receive for Malachi is dependent on the number of volunteers. Also keep your eyes and ears open to the Back Pack Party in August at Piedmont Park. Bring your Foyers Group, Sunday School Class, Home Group, etc. Submitted by Shari Dickerson |
