Stewardship Sunday - November 10 Dear Parish Family, Greetings on this crisp fall morning! As the long season of Ordinary Time draws down and we approach the beginning of our Church year, Advent, we are also engaged in our annual focus on stewardship. You may have noticed some changes in this year's focus from years past. Our intent and invitation has been to look at our life at St. Patrick's and our hope and vision for St. Patrick's. This fits well with beginning a new year, an Advent in the annual and the broader sense. Through small group discussions and three speakers so far, it is our hope that you have found this a spiritually and communally enriching time. For our further reflection, this Sunday there will be an all adult class addressing The Soul of Money and Where Money Goes When it Goes to Church. During the service this week there will be time to quietly pray and reflect on your pledge. It seems right to do some of this gathered in community, although many of you will have already made commitments prior to Sunday. You may find your pledge card here. Note the options for an annual or monthly commitment - whichever suits you. These pledges are used for budgeting purposes. When the pledges have been gathered we will enter the two month budgeting process. This begins with last year's budget, requests from ministries on budget request sheets and several meetings of the Finance Committee. Finally the recommended budget will go to the Vestry in January for approval. All of this is intended to be transparent to you. It is your budget for your church. If you are not ready to pledge Sunday you may turn your pledge card in when you are ready. This opportunity does not close. If it would help you to discuss your pledge with one of us, your stewardship and finance committee members are available, as is your vestry, administrator, Nicole Cone and of course Fr. Dick. Please make use of us. And please join us for a wonderful luncheon following the service on Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. service. Remember to make reservations for the meal or childcare. Blessings, CeCe Balboni Stewardship, Finance and Senior Warden of the Vestry
We will have a combined adult Christian formation class at 9:00 a.m. on Nov. 10. CeCe and Gerry Balboni will lead an experiential presentation on The Soul of Money and What Happens to Money when it Goes to Church. This class is intended for all adults and YEA (Young Episcopal Adults). Please come and add your prayers and voice to the time together.
Please join us for a combined service at 10:30 a.m. on Stewardship Sunday when we will present and bless our pledges, and for the Stewardship Celebration Luncheon immediately following. We encourage our young people to sit with their families during the luncheon. Childcare will be provided for those requesting. RSVP for the luncheon and childcare to the church office (770-455-6523).

The 8:00 a.m. service welcomed a new Eucharistic minister, Frank Richards, on November 3. Pictured are the other four ministers Allison Solomon, Emily Sigman, Linda Agnello, and Jim Lynn. These ministers "do it all"--greeting, serving the altar, reading the lessons, offering up the prayers of the people and bearing the chalice!

- The program, Whole Heartedness,
meets November through Nov. 20 with Cece Balboni and Kathryn Turman as facilitators - We will use the work of Episcopal layperson Brene Brown to explore the meaning of living whole heartedly. Dr. Brown is a sociologist with a wonderful sense of humor. She addresses topics like shame and vulnerability to free us for whole heartedness in our relationships, work, parenting and life issues. We will use discussion, singing, poetry and the presence of one another for three wonderful evenings.

Black Board Ministry Needs Volunteers: We have two marker black boards that we update each week with the schedule for Sunday. We are looking for volunteers to help update them each week. The more the merrier - a rotation schedule would be perfect. One month at a time, calendar information sent straight to you. All you need is good handwriting and some artistic talent. Interested? Contact Amanda Vaughn.
SPARKS Email list: If you would like to be on the SPARKS (Saint Patrick's Alliance for Retired Kindred Spirits) email list to find out about upcoming events, please email Jim Hoffmann or call him at 770-394-2266 to let him know.
St. Patrick's Professional Women's Group: The November meeting will be a trip to Decatur, to hear author Anne Lamott discuss her works and her newest book, "Stitches: A Handbook on Meaning, Hope, and Repair." Monday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in downtown Decatur. If you think you might go, it would be helpful to RSVP to Leslie Bishop so seats can be reserved. Some of you may want to carpool from church - let Leslie Bishop know and she will coordinate. There is also an interest in having a bite to eat together in Decatur after the lecture. Let Leslie know if you might be interested in this as well. Want to Join St. Patrick's? Please email Amanda Vaughn or call her at 770-455-6523 for more information. |

Ministry News
New Summer's Landing Ministry Needs Help: We all love to see our friends from Summer's Landing on Sundays and we give thanks for our faithful sisters and brothers who "roll" them to church. The staff at Summer's Landing asked us to expand our ministry there and to consider a periodic visit and devotional service on site. Deacon Ed began an every other week devotional service there and now needs help with the ministry. The folks at Summer's Landing love music and they especially love the old hymns. If you can play piano or any instrument to accompany singing of hymns, please consider offering your gifts every other Monday afternoon at 2 pm for 30 minutes. Contact Deacon Ed for more information - 404-386-9437 or email him here.
Prayer Requests: If you'd like to have a name added to the St. Patrick's prayer list, please email the information to prayerrequests@stpat.net.
Stephen Ministry: If you are feeling troubled about a problem in your life, please know that Stephen Ministers are always available. They will be there to listen and to walk with you during the times when you most need them. God wants you to be at peace, and the Stephen Ministers are trained to help you find that peace. Call Fr. Dick at 770-455-6523 to be put in touch with a Stephen Minister. Your request and conversations will be kept totally confidential.
