An Instructed Eucharist - Sunday, September 29
by Deacon Ed Fuller
As Episcopalians, our principal Sunday service is The Holy Eucharist and we celebrate the service together, in common, using a liturgy given to us in the Book of Common Prayer.
Ever wonder why we begin our service with a musical prelude? How about standing, kneeling, or sitting? Why does the priest hold his hands over the bread and wine during the prayer of consecration? Should I make the sign of the cross?
These questions and many others are often heard from those who come to join us in worship for the first time, and the same questions are frequently heard from those who have worshipped with us for years.
Come; be with us this Sunday (September 29) at the 8:00 a.m. and the 10:30 a.m. services for an "Instructed Eucharist". We will weave a narrative throughout the service that explains what is going on and why. Every member of the congregation has assigned roles in our service of Holy Eucharist and we need you there to do your part this Sunday just as you do every Sunday.

Episcopal Essentials: Are you ready to be a confirmed member of St. Patrick's? Join us on Wednesday nights through October 30 for Episcopal Essentials. This is our "Inquirers Class," and serves as preparation for confirmation, reaffirmation and reception at the diocesan service at the Cathedral of St. Philip on December 8. The topic for Sept. 25 is liturgy and the prayer book led by Deacon Ed. On October 2 Deacon Ed will discuss Holy Scripture. While designed to introduce newcomers to the history, liturgy and sacramental life of the Episcopal Church, this class is open to all who are interested in discussing things Anglican. The class will be led by Fr. Dick, Deacon Ed, and Jim Lynn.

Ministry News
Prayer Requests: If you'd like to have a name added to the St. Patrick's prayer list, please email the information to prayerrequests@stpat.net.
Garden of Eatin' Needs Volunteers: Please consider joining our small group of faithful gardeners on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., when we harvest, plant, and water the garden. No experience is necessary! We have fun while engaging Malachi's clients in gardening. For more information, please contact James Tola or Wendy Lauber. Cloverleaf: Somewhere in the mountains of Peru, a woman makes an annual pilgrimage up to the cemetery. She carries her "kit," a bag of primitive tools and a bottle of ink. She goes to her family's section and starts, digging out the dirt and detritus from the letters and dates carved in the gravestones. Then she inks in the grooves. That's what All Saints' Day is about - keeping fresh the memories of loved ones so they're not forgotten. Let us hear about your favorite, never-to-be-forgotten saint by Sunday, October 6. We can hardly wait to read your story. Email submissions to Barbara Allen. If you'd like to give a gift toward this issue as a memorial to someone wonderful, make your check payable to St. Patrick's, and note "Cloverleaf - Memorial" with the name of the person to be memorialized in the subject line. We'll be eternally grateful. All gifts will be acknowledged in this issue. Stephen Ministry: If you are feeling troubled about a problem in your life, please know that Stephen Ministers are always available. They will be there to listen and to walk with you during the times when you most need them. God wants you to be at peace, and the Stephen Ministers are trained to help you find that peace. Call Fr. Dick at 770-455-6523 to be put in touch with a Stephen Minister. Your request and conversations will be kept totally confidential.
