The Brotherhood of St. Andrew
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is an international ministry to Christian men and boys. It was incorporated by an Act of the U.S. Congress, signed by President Theodore Roosevelt, on May 30, 1908. That Act states in part, "...the sole object of said corporation shall be the spread of Christ's Kingdom among men." The corporate office is located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
The Brotherhood is named for St. Andrew. When Jesus asked Andrew to follow him, Andrew first brought his brother, Simon Peter, with him, saying, "We have found the Christ."
At St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, we are about 20 members who meet monthly for Bible study and prayer. Because we are so new, we have been placing a lot of emphasis on projects and establishing ourselves as a Christian body aligned with the mission of our parish church. Our direction, though, is always in support of our three disciplines: Prayer, Study, and Service.
We try to follow the three disciplines in support of our mission. For Prayer, we pray daily for the spread of Christ's Kingdom, especially among men and youth. For Study, we study the Holy Scriptures regularly and the teachings of the Church to attain a better understanding of how to follow Christ and bring others into his Kingdom. Our Service is to make continuous efforts to bring others nearer to Christ through his Church.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Brotherhood, contact a member of the clergy or Jim Lynn, 404-308-4100. More information can be found on the St. Patrick's website.

Ministry News
Prayer Requests: If you'd like to have a name added to the St. Patrick's prayer list, please email the information to prayerrequests@stpat.net.
Malachi Reads is a program where the kids of Malachi Storehouse visitors can read and be read to by Volunteers from St. Patrick's. When the kids leave they get to choose a couple of books to take home with them. We currently need volunteers to come on Wednesdays from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m. to read. Please email Diane Rankin or call her at 404-277-5388 if this feels like a ministry for you.
Garden of Eatin' needs lettuce: As we prepare the beds for fall planting, the garden needs donations of lettuce plants like green leaf and romaine. These plants will provide fresh produce for our food pantry clients through the winter months. Please drop off your donated lettuce plants at church by the garden by Monday, Sept. 23. Also, please consider joining our small group of faithful gardeners on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., when we harvest, plant, and water the garden. No experience is necessary! We have fun while engaging Malachi's clients in gardening. For more information, please contact James Tola or Wendy Lauber.
Cloverleaf: "When the sparrow falls, that tiny being, it leaves a hole in the sparrow world and in the mind of God's eternal present. Like all of us, it will never not have been." - Barbara Crafton
Tell us about the hole in your life where your favorite saint used to be. Aren't we glad to have read about these in past issues? Barbara Stafford on Cora Belle: "Since she was away from her "holy-roller" church she delighted in trying mother's perfume, lipstick and powder." Or Holly's grandmother: "She ate peaches with a passion, took a nap every day and laughed at everything you said whether it was funny or not." We eagerly await your submission of article, poem or photo. Deadline is Sunday, October 6. Email submissions to Barbara Allen.
If you'd like to give a gift toward this issue as a memorial to someone wonderful, make your check payable to St. Patrick's, and note "Cloverleaf - Memorial" with the name of the person to be memorialized in the subject line. We'll be eternally grateful. All gifts will be acknowledged in this issue.
Stephen Ministry: If you are feeling troubled about a problem in your life, please know that Stephen Ministers are always available. They will be there to listen and to walk with you during the times when you most need them. God wants you to be at peace, and the Stephen Ministers are trained to help you find that peace. Call Fr. Dick at 770-455-6523 to be put in touch with a Stephen Minister. Your request and conversations will be kept totally confidential.
