Young Explorers Camp was just terrific! Such joy and energy and life through our halls as children from CGS and Malachi's, brimming with excitement and laughter, flooded our narthex that first Monday. They were all in stitches from the very beginning as fun mixed with intentional choral instruction ("Can you make a face like this?"). And, of course, there were quieter moments, like the hush descended at the reading of Rainbow Fish, during the lunch blessing, or when holding hands in prayer at the beginning and close of day. Didn't you love those tie-died T-shirts and smiling faces on Sunday as our children danced, road ponies up the aisle, played instruments and sang the songs they had learned in less than a week?
On behalf of a grateful parish, I wish to thank all the Adult and Youth Leaders who gave so much this week and in the weeks preceding to provide such an exquisite experience for our younger set. Volunteers included Alex Gonzalez, Andy Schuyler, Barbara Allen, Bill Kaiser, Brenda Marquis, Caroline Game, CeCe Balboni, Charlie Tighe, Christian Sifuentes, Dana Dolan, Diane Rankin, Dot Cowan, Dulce Sifuentes, Elaine Judge, Frank Hernandez, Ginger Toth, Irma Barajas, Jan Schuyler, Jan Schuyler, Jeremy Carlson, Jillian Hall, Jim Lynn, Joanne Cropper, John Ruhr, Judi Carlson, Kathy Brey, Lacey Krakowiak, Lili Phillips, Louise Barden, Lynn Fisher Queen, Mary Lambert, Mary Trogdon, Natalia Carlson, Nathan Richardson, Patty Ormsby, Patty Andonian, Peter Richardson, Shari Dickerson, Virginia Ross, Winnifer Polonia, and Zana Boyanton.
You are the best!
Blessings!

Creative Explorer's Camp: Camp met last week for ages K - 5th grade. See photos below showing the camp and campers who were part of the 10:15 a.m. service on July 28.
God Goes to the Movies: Our Summer Film Festival is going strong! The movie starts promptly at 9:1 5 a.m., so please be sure to arrive in the Gathering Room/Room 1 a few minutes before.
August 4 - "Millions" hosted by Victoria Schwartz - Seven-year old Damian is a spiritual little boy who loves the saints, while his nine-year old brother Anthony is practical and worldly -wise. When they move to a new home with their father, they receive a gym bag that, most surprisingly, contains millions of pounds. Damien thinks it's a gift from God, while Anthony wants to use it to win friends in their new school. They are in for many surprises as they try to figure out what to do with Millions. Perhaps it's no surprise that a children's ministry director would love a movie about children, but I assure you that Millions contains much food-for-thought for adults. August 11 - "The Shawshank Redemption" hosted by Minna Hong and Wayne Ware - "The Shawshank Redemption" is an allegory for maintaining one's self-worth regardless of where you are in life. Andy Dufrence's character in this film privides the importance of having integrity even in prison. True freedom is not where you are physically, it is how you define it.
August 18 - "I Am Legend" hosted by the youth group - It is the year 2012. In the ruins of New York city. Robert Neville who is a military scientist who is the lone survivor of a biochemical disease which was supposed to cure cancer 3 years previous. With only blood thirsty zombies as his neighbors and his trusty dog, Samantha, Robert is trying to discover a cure for this disease and to find out any other people who might have also survived.
Synthesis CE Available: The Synthesis CE, a lectionary study guide following the Revised Common Lectionary, for July is available on the table outside the office. Please pick up a copy to learn more about the scripture we read each week.
Chanting as Sacred Practice: A Path of Awakening and Renewal: on August 2-3, St. Bartholomew's is hosting a workshop with chant composer and music educator, Darlene Franz.
