AGTS announces 2015 Alumni Awards

Springfield, Missouri---June 19, 2015---
The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at Evangel University honored Daisuke and Yoriko Yabuki, of the class of 2009 and 1999, as the 2015 Alumni of the Year at its 42nd commencement on May 2.

 

Daisuke and Yoriko serve as the International Ministry pastors at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri. They are the first supported missionaries sent by the Japanese AG to minister in the United States.

At Central Assembly, Daisuke and Yoriko minister to Japanese people, their American families and international friends and teach conversational English classes. They partner with the Office of Ethnic Relations at the Assemblies of God National Leadership and Resource Center to host Japanese conferences and have recently formed the first Japanese fellowship in Assemblies of God USA, of which Daisuke is president and Yoriko is vice-president.

 

Sigma Chi Pi Honor Society Awards

The Alliance for the Assemblies of God Higher Education sponsors the Sigma Chi Pi Honor Society. Each year, the seminary faculty nominates a limited number of alumni who satisfy scholastic, character and leadership qualifications and graduated at least 10 years ago. The 2015 recipients include:

 




Judy A. Cagle ('02 DMin)
Missionary,
serving in retirement

Since 1970, Judy has served as a cross-cultural missionary and Bible school faculty member in nations throughout the Asia Pacific Region, including the Marshall Islands, Indonesia and the Philippines. Judy assisted her husband, Wayne, who served as Area Director for the Assemblies of God World Missions for Pacific Oceania for 18 years. 

They also developed the Leadership Development Institute, training pastors and church leaders in the Asian context. Judy continues to teach leaders of leaders in Asia Pacific.
G. Robert Cook Jr. 
('04 DMin)
Lead Pastor

Bob Cook is the lead pastor of Victory Life Church in Fruita, Colo. He also serves on the AGTS Board of Advisors. 

His extensive experience in youth ministry, church planting and pastoral leadership has led him to minister throughout the western United States. He taught at Bethany Bible College while serving as chair of the Church Ministries Department. He has served the Assemblies of God in multiple administration roles including superintendent of the Rocky Mountain District and president of the Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education.
Larry D. Cooper
('80 MDiv/'04 DMin)
Chaplain

Chaplain Cooper provides pastoral care to CoxHealth hospitals and trauma centers in Springfield, Mo. and surrounding area. He serves on the board of the Southwest Missouri Critical Incident Response Team and is a member of the Association of Professional Flight Chaplains. 

Additionally, he coordinates pastoral care volunteers, is a designated requestor for organ and tissue donations and helps train first responders. Larry is also an adjunct faculty member at AGTS and serves on the Evangel University Alumni Board. 

 

AGTS at Evangel serves the larger Pentecostal and Evangelical traditions with 21st-century leadership for the Church and its mission.
