AGTS and Missouri State University collaborate to bring New Testament scholar Craig S. Keener to speak at MSU Feb. 5

Springfield, Missouri---January 27, 2015---In cooperation with the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at Evangel University, the Missouri State University Religious Studies Department will host Dr. Craig Keener for an evening lecture on the historic plausibility of New Testament miracles at 7 p.m. February 5, at Missouri State University, Carrington Hall, Room 208.

The highly-anticipated lecture at MSU represents a collaborative highlight between the two local schools. "We at AGTS are delighted to partner with our colleagues in the Missouri State University Religious Studies Department to host this important scholarly event," said Dr. Lois Olena, AGTS associate professor of practical theology and Jewish studies. Dr. Olena added, "Dr. Stephen Berkwitz, head of the MSU Religious Studies Department, has provided a warm welcome, fostering a cooperative effort that is allowing us to highlight the work of this remarkable scholar. Dr. Keener's academic contributions have enriched the lives of our mutual students and faculty, and we are eagerly looking forward to this event co-hosted by our two schools."

A brilliant scholar and passionate evangelist, AGTS alumni Dr. Craig S. Keener (M.A. '85; M.Div. '87) is one of the most prolific New Testament scholars today. He has published more than 70 academic articles and more than 170 popular ones. He wrote "2 Corinthians" in The New Interpreter's Bible One Volume Commentary, the article on the Holy Spirit for The Oxford Handbook of Evangelical Theology, and has published other popular materials with Abingdon, InterVarsity and Zondervan.

He is coeditor of the New Covenant Commentary Series and of Global Voices: Reading the Bible in the Majority World, is a consulting editor for the Africa Study Bible and recently served as program chair for the Institute for Biblical Research (2010-12). Dr. Keener is chair of biblical studies and professor of New Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary.

The MSU lecture will be last in the Stanley M. Horton Pentecostal Heritage Lectureship Series. Dr. Craig Keener will speak on "The Mind of the Spirit" at 2:00 p.m. February 3-5 in the Seymour Chapel at AGTS.
