Seymour Chapel at AGTS on the topic "Why Calvinism is Not a Transcript of the Gospel."

The public is invited. The event will be steamed live at www.agts.edu.

Dr. Olson is the author of Against Calvinism. Other recent books include The Story of Christian Theology: Twenty Centuries of Tradition and Reform, which received a Gold Medallion from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association in 1999. Olson and Stanley Grenz authored Who Needs Theology? and 20th Century Theology: God and the World in a Transitional Age, which received Christianity Today's award for best book in theology/biblical studies. Dr. Olson was the editor of Christian Scholar's Review.

A past president of the American Theological Society (Midwest Division), Olson has been the co-chair of the Evangelical Theology Group of the American Academy of Religion for two years. An expert in historical theology, he is a frequent preacher, teacher and speaker for local churches and organizations.

"The Reformation and its leading lights, including Martin Luther and John Calvin, have provided all Christians with theological perspective that encourages sturdy doctrinal foundations," said AGTS president Dr. Byron D. Klaus. "It is also very important for Pentecostals to be aware of the critical affirmations from Arminian and Wesleyan perspectives that give vitality to Pentecostal doctrine and spiritual life. Dr. Roger Olson offers some important critique of theology coming from John Calvin and balances it with affirmations helpful for 21st century Pentecostals."

The public is also invited to hear Dr. Olson speak in the 9 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning service at Central Assembly of God (1301 North Boonville Avenue, Springfield, Mo. 65802) on "Salvation: Gift and Task" from Philippians 2:12-13.
