The Authentic Ceramic Towns of Japan
An Insider Experience

The world-renowned ceramic towns of Japan inspire visitors from around the globe. Let us bring you behind the scenes where beautiful pottery or yakimono is made before your eyes. Visit potters in the mountains of Shigaraki outside of Kyoto with our ceramics expert or in Mashiko, just north of Tokyo.  Meet with a well-known potter at her studio near Kanazawa in western Japan, who specializes in the technique of writing Japanese classic poetry (waka) by hand on ceramics.

On our Enchanting Kyushu Signature Journey, visit the charming pottery villages of Arita, Okawachiyama, Karatsu and Onta, each with their own unique artistic styles, colors and inherent beauty. A visit to pottery villages in Kyushu may be combined with a relaxing stay at a wonderful ryokan or Japanese inn where you can enjoy a soothing hot spring bath and delicious Japanese meal after a day of exploring the treasures of Kyushu.
