Sharing the Journey
A Year of Growth and Change
January 1, 2015: Issue 1
Invitation:  Sharing the Journey

Do you like to use the fresh beginnings of a new year to take stock?  Do you set personal goals and envision a future that is, in some ways, better than today?  I sure do!  Whether it means improving key health habits, adjusting to retirement, responding to the demands of eldercare, or making the most of other major life changes, the adventure is rewarding.  It can be even more fun if shared.

So, I am inviting you to start a new adventure with me this year.  It is an experiment.  I don't know exactly what it will look like or where it will go.  We will be co-creators. I think we will find it helpful and fun, and it is free of charge.

In the six years since turning in my Forest Service badge, I have explored a variety of options for engagement and service.  I wrote grants for a favorite nonprofit, volunteered as a marathon training coach, and opened a life coaching practice. However, I haven't yet developed an ideal approach to the latter. I love coaching, but a calendar full of appointments and office hours do not offer the flexibility I seek in a second career.  In addition, I have been dealing with recurring throat and voice issues that make in-person conversation more difficult and unpredictable than it used to be.

For nearly six years, I have written weekly Reflections and shared it by email with a growing readership.  This year, I published 100 favorite reflections as a book (Going Deeper) and have enjoyed the response. While continuing to write Reflections, I want to add a new dimension to my writing that links more closely with life coaching, goal-setting, and intentional change.

I recently re-shaped Wellbuddies Coaching to feature email options (see details). I also want to develop a self-coaching package that combines guided journal writing with concise essays on principles of personal growth.  I envision the coming year as a "beta test" for developing those materials with a community of interested volunteers.  After the year is over, I might publish the results as a workbook or package them as an online course.

The life-coaching model I learned from Wellcoaches School of Coaching is rooted in sound science and the belief that we are all capable of achieving our own hand-crafted versions of optimal health and happiness.  I want very much to share what I have learned.

I am excited!  Are you intrigued? I hope so, because I definitely need buddies to share this journey.  I will aim initially to send an email each Friday, with an emphasis on thought-provoking questions to guide your exploration. I am confident that, if you take this on and stay actively engaged throughout the year, you can experience improvement in a few key areas that mean the most to you now.

Do you have any questions? Are you ready to sign up? Reply to this email or click here to contact me. We will get rolling soon.

It is a new year; let's make the most of it!
