Manhattan Ev's LadiesSeveral ladies competed with Evgeny Dyachenko in the Pro-Am Division at the Manhattan DancesSport Championships, including Donna Sparano, Karen Sauter and Joan Tobin (pictured left to right).
In the American Rhythm and Smooth single dance events, all of our ladies danced extremely well with Evgeny Dyachenko.


Donna's best placements in the single dance events were the Full Gold Smooth dances (all first places) and the Open Gold Rhythm dances (4 of 5 first places).

Joan and EvgenyJoan danced her best in the Silver Smooth events (3 firsts in Pre-Silver and Intermediate Silver, all 2nds in Full Silver).  Joan also danced very well in the Rhythm single dance events, placing 2nd in Intermediate Bronze Swing and W.C. Swing, 2nd in Full Bronze Swing, W.C. Swing and Mambo, and 2nd in Open Bronze Rumba, Mambo, W.C. Swing and Samba.


Karen and EvgenyKaren's best placements were in the Intermediate Bronze Smooth events, where she placed 2nd in Waltz and 3rd in Viennese Waltz.  In the Full Bronze Rhythm single dances, Karen placed 5th in Swing and 7th in Bolero.  She also took 6th place in Open Bronze Swing and Bolero and 7th in Open Bronze Mambo.

In the Scholarship events, Karen took 7th place in Bronze Rhythm and danced in the Semi-Final in Bronze Smooth.

Donna and EvgenyDonna placed 5th in the Open Gold Rhythm and was in the Open Gold Smooth Semi-Final.  Congratulations to all these competitors on their success at the Manhattan DanceSport Championships!
At the Virginia State DanceSport Championships, Cathy Fullam and Dianne Forman competed with Evgeny in the Pro-Am events.

Ev, Dianne, CathyDianne Forman and Cathy Fullam competed with Evgeny Dyachenko at the Virginia State DanceSport Championships with great success.  They had a wonderful time at the competition and loved the town of Reston, VA.  They enjoyed the casual dining atmosphere in Reston, alfresco.  The ladies also appreciated the interesting things to do in Reston, where you can easily walk the town in a short time.
 
Viktor, Cathy, EvEvgeny brought along his father, Viktor, to the competition.  He is visiting from Russia.

Dianne 6Both Dianne and Cathy competed in the American Smooth Division.  Dianne's heats began with a Semi-Final in all of the Smooth single dances in Closed Bronze 1, 2, and 3, and she made it to the Final in every dance!

Cathy and EvCathy entered the Closed Silver 1 and 2 American Smooth single dances, placing 2nd in Waltz, 1st in Foxtrot and 2rd in Viennese Waltz in Silver 1.  In Silver 2, she placed 3rd in 3 of the 4 Smooth dances.

In the American Rhythm Division, Cathy competed in Closed Silver 1 and 2 in not only the main dances of Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero and Mambo, but also in West Coast Swing and Samba.  In Silver 1, Cathy won all her dances, and the main 5 dances started from a Semi-Final.  In Silver 2, she placed 3rd in Cha Cha, 2nd in Rumba, and 1st in Swing, Bolero and Mambo.  Cathy also took first in Silver 2 West Coast Swing and Samba.

National Dance Day!

Siti Dance Studio is celebrating National Dance Day, July 28, 2012, with a FREE Adult Beginner Salsa Class!
Did you know that National Dance Day was created by Nigel Lythgoe, of the So You Think You Can Dance television series?  Eleanor Holmes Norton, a Congresswoman and long-time supporter of healthy lifestyles, introduced a National Dance Day resolution to promote dance education and physical fitness in the USA.  National Dance Day is now an annual event on the last Saturday of July.  This event encourages the nation, young and old, to move!
