VALLEY ART CENTER RECEIVES CAC GRANT
The Valley Art Center is delighted to announce they are recipients of a General Operating Support (GOS) grant for 2013-2014 from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC). The needed criteria for this grant was three-fold: Public Benefit-ability to engage its community to achieve its mission, Artistic and Cultural Vibrancy-ability to create quality, mission-driven work that inspires and challenges its community, and Organizational Capacity-ability to manage for today and tomorrow. We are pleased that our efforts to execute our mission of presenting, promoting and teaching visual arts in the Chagrin Valley were recognized by CAC.
CAC's mission is to inspire and strengthen the community by investing in arts and culture. It is a regional arts and cultural district and is a political subdivision of the State of Ohio enabled by Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Chapter 3381. CAC funds are generated through an excise tax. Their primary purpose is to make grants to qualified arts and cultural organizations based in Cuyahoga County. CAC administers two primary grant programs--Project Support (PS) and General Operating Support (GOS). All CAC grant programs are adjudicated using independent panels of arts and culture professionals from outside the region who evaluate and score applications in public meetings. Panelists are appointed by the Board of Trustees through open nominations and serve for specific grant programs and cycles. VAC would like to thank the citizens of Cuyahoga county and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture for their continued support. |

THE MANY MOODS OF BLUE OPEN GALLERY SEASON
In 2012 we opened our gallery season examining the color RED! Now, let's see how BLUE can transform our Margaret "Peg" Bowen Gallery this January! The Valley Art Center begins its 2013 gallery season embracing the many moods of BLUE in "THE MOODY BLUES."
Azure, beryl, cerulean, cobalt, corporate blue, cyan, indigo, navy, sapphire, steel blue-many names define the many shades that we associate with BLUE. The color BLUE is nostalgic, universal and a favorite color of many, evoking feelings of trust, dependability, honesty and loyalty. BLUE is often associated with communication, especially one-on-one using our voice to speak the truth. Many artists use it to show perspective - a feeling of distance!
Join us for our Opening Reception, Friday, January 18, 2013
from 6-8pm.
