Maurice Jacquelin Pecquet

Maurice passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, April 3, 2015 at his residence at the age of 85. He was a lifelong resident and native of Port Allen, La, and a retired chemical operator from Exxon Plastics. He was a US Army Veteran who served in the Korean Conflict.

 

Visiting will be at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 5 to 9pm and will resume on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 8 to 10:45am with Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen at 11:30am, celebrated by Father David Allen. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. 

 

He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Marie New and Monica Francis, husbands Randy New and David Francis; grandchildren, Brittney Shelton, Robert and Kelcy New, D.J., Dustin, Amber, Catherine and John Francis; great grandchildren, Jaiden and Lillian Shelton, Madeline and Garret Francis, Juliet and Daniel New and Talon Airosa; sisters, T-Mo Mertz and husband Rick, Shirley Pecquet and Azelia Efferson and husband Ronald; and brother, William Carey Pecquet, Jr. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Eileen Pecquet; parents, Laura Loup Pecquet and William Carey Pecquet, Sr.; sisters, Theresa Hebert and Joyce Glass; and brothers, Howard and John W. Pecquet. Pallbearers will be Robert and Kelcy New, D.J. and Dustin Francis, Alex Shelton and Aureo Airosa. 

 

Maurice served over 60 years in the Boy Scouts of America, impacting hundreds of lives. He was an active member of the West Baton Rouge Museum as well as a Charter Member of the WWII Museum in New Orleans. Dedicating his life to his Genealogical work, he not only traced his family line, he helped countless others with their family research. He became a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was active in his community and will be greatly missed. There will be a void in West Baton Rouge Parish.
