For a class of students with diverse learning styles, a visit to a museum can provide a much-needed shift away from a learning experience filled predominately with books and worksheets. Tours offered here at The Mini Time Machine are designed to meet the needs of students with all learning styles. With all our miniatures under glass you may be wondering how we meet the needs of physical learners. This issue of IMAGINE...EXPLORE...DISCOVER shows you how you can enhance your fieldtrip to The Mini Time Machine Museum with a hands-on experience for those who learn best through their sense of touch.
It may be impossible to actually step into our miniature rooms, but now your student can rearrange the furniture while exploring a miniature presented on our new Art Carts. The Art Carts are a hands-on encounter showcasing different themes or time periods represented in the museum's collection. Docents will invite your students to handle tiny furnishings on the Art Cart similar to those behind glass. You can incorporate an Art Cart experience into your tour free of charge. To learn more about our Art Carts, check out our video below.
You and your students will be amazed by the skill of the miniature artist. Why not have your students try their hand at making a miniature? For an additional $5 per student, you can add a Make-a-Mini experience to your tour. Students will explore a variety of materials used by miniature artists and create their own petite project. Included in this email is a sample lesson from our Make-A-Mini program that you can create with you students.
And finally, our newest exhibit, Small Scale Skirmishes: Battles from Imagination and Reality, is open through April 7th. We hope you will use the 2 for 1 admission offer in this newsletter to come see this fascinating exhibit before it's gone.
Happy Spring!
