Coastal Happenings May 2015

Dear Friend of the Coast,
We celebrated Earth Day in a big way at the Coastal Federation this year with eight different celebrations and habitat restoration events attended by nearly 4,000 people. Thanks to everyone from Nags Head to Oak Island who came out and celebrated with us!
May brings more opportunities to celebrate with one of our events listed on the left, or just drop by one of our offices to learn what's new in your area. May is also a nice time to consider a gift of support for Mother's Day, graduations or Memorial Day. Our honorariums and memorials share the love of the coast with your family and friends. Gifts can be made easily online, by check or phone, and we'll send a warm letter to your tribute on your behalf.
We'd love to see you soon at one of our events. In addition to the ones listed here, please keep our summer camps in mind for those young conservationists. Also, registration has just opened for the 5th annual Cycling for the Coast. You can find these details and more on our website.

Seismic testing approved; forum planned

After three public meetings throughout the coast, seismic testing was approved by the N.C. Division of Coastal Management. Many concerns about the well being of endangered marine life were raised, and a full Q&A is available here.
