Calling All Photographers
The federation and Emerald Isle Realty are sponsoring a photo contest. Every week, Coastal Review Online selects one photo from readers' submissions to spotlight as the "Photo of the Week." From these weekly winners judges will select the best photos of the year. Winners of the annual CRO Photo Contest will receive cash prizes sponsored by Emerald Isle Realty and a free federation membership. Here are the guidelines.

Dear Friend of the Coast,
There is a lot of activity at the federation headquarters these days - and it's more than the shuffling of desks and hammering upstairs where new offices are being built. We're welcoming new staff members and saying goodbye to one long-time staff member.
After almost 20 years with the federation and 43 years in development, Development Director Sally Steele is retiring. She's looking forward to having more time for her favorite things like kayaking, gardening and traveling. And she's already signed up to volunteer at the federation's EarthWise Farm.
Sarah King, who has been our Development Officer for the past three years is taking on the Development Director role. She will lead a growing development team, including Catherine Snead who came onboard eight months ago and is managing fundraising events and sponsorships, and Kelly Bodie, whose first day as Membership Director was Monday.
Kathleen Callahan is moving from New Hampshire for her first day on the job March 9 as the federation's first Communications Director.
We're looking forward to working with these talented new staff members and expanding our development and outreach programs.

OffShore Drilling - Join the Conversation
It's an important issue that is attracting a lot of conversation. Watch for updates from our Coastal Review Online and read here, what Frank Tursi, CRO's editor, labels as the good, the bad and the ugly about offshore drilling.

Wildlife Abounds in Proposed Titan Site
The federation, Cape Fear River Watch and the Wildlands Network set up 20 wildlife cameras around Castle Hayne and the NE Cape Fear near the proposed Titan site. Staff regularly monitors the cameras and you'll be amazed by some of the birds and animals that have been captured on camera. Find more wildlife photos in our face book album: Northeast Cape Fear Wildlife Camera Project.
