  • The American Association of Feline Practitioners and the American Animal Hospital Asscoiation recommend at least one yearly wellness visit for cats and more for senior pets and those living with medical conditions?
  • Your dog's nose is 100 million times more senstive that your own

Welcome to the unofficial start of fall and a new season of upcoming events at the Hoffman Estates Animal Hospital. We have many updates happening at the practice and are once again involved in local community events. Keep checking back with us for some exciting new announcements coming up this fall!

Pet of the Month

Each month we feature one pet and their amazing story of recovery in the lobby of the hospital and on our website. One of our veterinary technicians or doctors will share the story of one remarkable case they have recently faced. We like to highlight all that veterinary medicine is capable of and showcase how well animals can respond to various treatments.

"Have we seen your cat lately?"

HEAH is on board with the "Have we seen your cat lately?" campaign sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim. It's aimed at highlighting the necessity of cats being treated by veterinarians on a regular basis. It can be very difficult to get your cat to the veterinarian (as they like to hide before appointments), but having your cat examined regularly can help prevent disease and save its life. The "Have we Seen your cat lately" campaign gives cat owners tips on the best ways to get cats to the doctor, the importance of regular care and wellness exams, and tips to improve your cat's overall wellbeing.

Why is my dog shedding so much?!

You might have noticed your dog shedding more than usual lately. We've had lots of owners ask us what's causing this hair loss. Dogs typically shed twice per year- once right before summer and once right before winter. In the fall, dogs are shedding their summer coat to make room for the thicker winter coat they are about to grow. In the spring they shed that heavy coat to accommodate the heat. If you notice them shedding earlier than expected, that's okay. We've had an unusual weather pattern and even the small changes in the air (turning it slightly colder) can trigger them to shed. Shedding is only cause for medical alarm when bald spots apear where there is no hair present.

Enjoy this beautiful September weather! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sincerely,
Dr. House and the Staff of the Hoffman Estates Animal Hospital
