Salute to Irish Dog Breeds

Do you know that many adorable dog breeds originated in Ireland? These fiery and spunky dogs are typically very active, alert, and extremely intelligent. The American Kennel Club recognizes several Irish breeds-Irish Setter, Irish Wolfhound, Kerry Blue Terrier, Irish Red and White Setter, and the Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier among them. IndidvidualizedWellnessPlan  Individualized Wellness Plan

Just as parents provide a lifetime of love and care for their children, we too are committed to providing a lifetime of love and care for your pet.

For years we have worked to insure your pet's wellbeing. We understand that pets go through the same life stages that people do. Just as human medicine is turning towards prevention, the veterinary world is doing the same.

We have shared with you that prevention from the time your pet is two months old to twelve years old, is the key to keeping them healthy and promoting wellness.

By taking into account your pet's specific breed and lifestyle, we tailor your pet's care to align with their activities and needs.

We are happy to discuss with you specifically what type of care your pet needs throughout their lifetime. Please talk to one our staff members about these wellness plans.

PuppyTrainingTips  Puppy Training Tips

Training dogs to obey commands can be a lifesaving practice. Owners that train dogs to "stay", or "sit", or come to them have a better chance of protecting their pets while out on the streets among cars and other dogs. Keeping dogs from running into the street is only one benefit of training- there are hundreds more. How do owners effectively train their dogs? You've heard of using treats to teach dogs tricks. While helpful, showing your pup treats might not be the best way to train them. If dogs can always see the treats they will only perform commands when treats are present. They are doing what they need to in order to get the reward, but they aren't learning how to perform the trick on command. When training with treats keep them hidden, switch the hand you feed them from, and wean dogs off treats for tricks they do well. That way they will learn to perform commands without treats. Treats can be a welcome surprise. There is nothing wrong with the reward, just make sure your puppy can perform the tricks without the treats.
