For a donation of $5 (proceeds go to the Buddy Foundation) per photo you'll leave with a great holiday card and the knowledge that you're making this season alittle brighter for local shelter pets.

Help Pets Affected by Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy has devastated the Northeast and left thousands of pets displaced or in need of food and water. Many pets went missing from their homes as high winds blew doors wide open. Others are suffering from the lack of heat due to power outages on the East Coast. If you are interested in helping these pets, refer to these outlets to make a difference in the lives of animals affected by Hurricane Sandy.
1.) Donate to a humane society located on the East Coast such as the Baltimore Humane Society or the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City, New Jersey.
2.) Donate $10 to the Humane Society Disaster Relief by texting ANIMALS to 20220
3.) Donate $10 to the ASPCA's animal rescue efforts by texting PREVENT to 25383
4.) Join Petco's National Pet Food drive now through November 11, 2012

October Recap

October was a very busy time for the Hoffman Estates Animal Hospital!
We participated in Make a Difference Day with the South Barrington Park District. Together we were able to donate over 500 pounds of pet food to Young at Heart Pet Rescue.
Our Office Manager, Amy, put her creative juices to use while designing "The Doctor is In"scarecrow for the South Barrington Park District's Scarecrow Trail Walk.
Our Halloween Pet Costume Contest was a huge success. Thanks to all 45 contestants and their owners for submitting pictures and thank you to everyone that voted! Congratulations to our winners-

A Thanksgiving Feast

Dogs can have a Thanksgiving feast all their own with this special recipe! Follow the directions below, courtesy of Tails Magazine, to whip up a Thanksgiving dinner for your dog.
Delicious Dog Food... 6 cups water 1 pound ground turkey 2 cups brown rice 1 teaspoon dried rosemary 1/2 (16 ounce) package frozen broccoli, carrots and cauliflower combination
Place the water, ground turkey, rice, and rosemary into a large Dutch oven. Stir until the ground turkey is broken up and evenly distributed throughout the mixture; bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the frozen vegetables, and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool before refrigerating.
