COLORADO CONCERN IN THE NEWS

Senate President Bill Cadman, Rep. Lois Court and Sen. Michael Johnston look on as Governor Hickenlooper signs HB 1057

On May 18, Governor John Hickenlooper sign

ed HB15-1057 into law at History Colorado. Initiated by Colorado Concern and supported by a broad coalition of nearly 40 organizations, the measure requires that a fiscal impact statement be included on all petitions

circulated to secure placement for a statewide ballot measure.

Governor Hickenlooper poses with members from the coalition that supported HB 1057

The transparency measure was a top initiative for Colorado Concern this year but faced an uphill battle in the legislature where several labor, environmental and self-identified progressive and conservative groups opposed the bill.  After countless attempts to amend or weaken the measure, it passed on the last day of the session.
