Rand Road Resurfacing from Lake Cook to Ela Roads to Begin October 2
ConstructionThe Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that a resurfacing of U.S. 12 (Rand Road) between Lake Cook and Ela roads, in Lake Zurich, will begin, weather permitting, on Thursday, Oct. 2.

The project consists of pavement patching, milling, resurfacing and pavement marking. In order to complete the project, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction with flaggers at various locations in the work zone. The anticipated completion date is June 15.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.

Find details on other construction projects in IDOT's District 1 at http://goo.gl/upgvZu. Updates on the impacts to traffic are available at www.travelmidwest.com.
Local Construction Updates
River Road and Roberts Road Intersection
The excavation work for the forest preserve trail and detention ponds at the west end of the project on the south side of Roberts Road are experiencing saturated ground conditions. The contractor will resume excavation/grading work when ground conditions improve. Once design submissions for ground improvement columns are reviewed and approved, the contractor will begin excavation for the ground improvement work at the intersection of River and Roberts Roads.

Long Grove Road Resurfacing Project
The final surface has been paved and the replacement of private driveways up to the right-of-way is underway and final pavement markings and ditching/drainage improvements are scheduled to follow. The restoration of the disrupted landscaping will be the final step in the project. Bicyclists and pedestrians can expect bike lane markings to be replaced. Drivers and bicyclists can expect delays due to daytime lane closures.
