November Election Voter Registration Deadline: 10/7
Residents who are new to Lake County, moved to a different county address, turn 18 on or before November 4, 2014, or have a name change need to register by Tuesday, Oct. 7 with a deputy registrar. Requirements to register:
* U.S. citizen
* 18 years old on or before the November election
* Precinct resident for 30 days immediately prior to Election Day
* Provide two forms of current identification

Registration is available at the County Clerk's office and at most municipal, township and library facilities. Lake County residents can visit LakeVoterPower.info or call 847.377.2410 to confirm registration status or find the nearest registration location.
Lake County Focuses on Opportunities to Share Services and Operate More Efficiently
During a series of community forums to obtain input into our strategic plan, residents identified the sharing of government services as a priority. As a result, Lake County is focusing on collaborating and coordinating with other units of governments to generate greater economies of scale, foster partnerships and reduce costs. September is National Preparedness Month: Be Disaster Aware, Take Action to Prepare!
The time to prepare for an emergency situation is well before disaster strikes. The three most important steps to take to keep your family safe are to Be Informed, Make a Plan and Build an Emergency Kit. Winter Deicing Workshops
You may not be ready to think about winter just yet, but local governments and snow removal companies have already begun planning. Road salt pollution has negatively impacted our rivers, creeks and lakes, but there are alternative products and practices we can use to keep our roads and parking areas safe. Lake County private and public snowplow drivers and deicing applicators are invited to attend two workshops to learn how to stretch your salt supply, save money, and reduce environmental impacts. Lake County Discovery Museum Events
The Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda has family fun exhibits about Lake County, art galleries that spotlight traveling features and is surrounded by a beautiful forest preserve to explore. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, 1 - 4:30 pm., 27277 N Forest Preserve Rd., Wauconda 

Farm Heritage Festival
Celebrate farm life from the turn of the century to the present with hands-on activities and demonstrations including Border Collie sheep herding, wagon and barrel train rides, rope and scarecrow making, and more. See the ever-popular tractor and antique vehicle parade, craft demonstrations and antique steam engines and a large model train display.

Museum Day Live!
Free Museum Entry Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums, like the Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda, and others across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! Ticket for free. This year's event is Saturday, September 27. The Museum Day Live! ticket provides free admission for two people.
Alternative Parking During Barrington Village Center Project Construction
A new 25,000-sq.ft. retail center housing restaurants and shopping in three separate buildings fronting Main and Hough streets, with 132 customer parking spaces is currently under construction. The Village is recommends parking in one of the following parking lots: 3A, 3B, 7, 10, 13, 18 & 20. These require Premium Parking Permits at $45/quarter or $160/year. Discounted Parking Permits are available for $40/year for parking in lots 7, 10, 13 and on-street in certain areas. Alpine Races on Shores of Lake Zurich Sign up for the Alpine Races Half Marathon, 5K, Youth Mile, Kids 1/2 Mile, 1/4 Mile or 100 Yard Dash. Run through the streets and along the shores of beautiful Lake Zurich with Gatorade, water, and time splits available along the course and food and drinks will be available to participants at the finish line.
